What do you hate about Obamacare?

The part that increased our costs by more than 200% AND increased our deductibles and co-pays? The part that prevents doctors from doctoring the way they see fit and the part that had made SO many doctors leave the field? The part that caused people to lose their full time jobs because the small businesses just can't afford to pay for the new heath insurance for their workers - even though the workers didn't need health insurance?

The part that raised her monthly cost because the "new" Obama-approved plan had to include pre and post natal care as well as provide abortion coverage. How many 65 year old women need that?

There are a few good elements, but I don't like:
(1) The compulsory nature of the ACA.
(2) The incredibly restrictive nature of the coverage - I did not have specialty hospitals like MD Anderson Cancer Center of UT Southwestern Medical center covered under my plan, and I had one of the top Gold-level plans.
(3) Of all of my doctors, only my primary care physician was covered under my plan - through a single United Healthcare Gold package (and United Healthcare is out of it now).
(4) The costs for the ACA were not much less than the COBRA coverage (Cobra was $1175/month). I couldn't afford to see my own doctors on my own dime, because I was forced to have coverage that didn't cover much of anything but consumed an enormous amount of my take-home income at the time.
(5) The reduction to the amount one could set aside in Flex-Spending accounts made a difference.
(6) The increased taxation on medical equipment suppliers made no sense.
(7) The ACA was put together in a way that was designed to force everyone into a simplistic mold without the understanding that life is complicated and illness doesn't follow political agendas.
(8) It was sold to the American public falsely. Leading proponents, including President Obama, knowingly made false claims to sell the policy to the public.
There are no easy answers to healthcare, but most people who were not blinded by political agendas could see that it was not going to be sustainable long before it was passed.
I've always thought that it would be appropriate for the U.S. government to guarantee healthcare for all citizens above a certain catastrophic threshold, and leave the private insurance market to offer various types of policies to cover the gap below the catastrophic level (perhaps $100,000). That would lower the costs for most Americans by eliminating some of the risk for insurers, and they could pass that savings onto citizens. The cost for the unusual catastrophic cases would be much lower than full coverage for all citizens. This would also allow there to be a high level of personal responsibility built into the systems through the private policies.

There is not enough room on the cloud to list the problems. It never, NEVER should have been passed ... because it was a disaster waiting to happen.

I dont like being forced to buy something that I can't use. I don't like that my premiums have gone up every year since it past dispite the fact that I never filed any claims. I don't like that there were fewer and fewer choices on the exchange every year and that doctors didn't take the few that were still offered. I don't like that it extended childhood another 8 years ( pandering to a group that will quickly pass the 26 threshold hold and expect the government to continue to pander to them.) I don't like that people can game the system by buying "insurance" after the fact (yes I realize that preexisting is a problem but that could be taken care of by market forces if there was transparency any competition in the market. The fact that their are car insurance companies that cater to people with DUI on their records shows that.)
I don't like that I was lied to when it was passed. And I really don't like that it is just one more way the government is intruding into my life outsides the bounds established by the Constitution.

Yeah, blessed housewife reminded me of one more thing ... enabling children, who should be earning a living, by making grown adults children eligibale until they are 26. What's next? Can't these kids make it on their own? I was working three jobs, while supporting a wife and two kids by age 23. I had to supply my own health insurance. Kids are enabled because we, as a nation, have made enabling a right of passage. What a shame. BTW - at age 27, I was attending college, working to complete my four year degree. And between school, a family and several part time jobs, God saw fit to help me earn straight "A's!"

Actually, the young adults of today haven't been coddled but unless they can find a legitimate job that includes benefits, they don't have health insurance. My daughter graduated from college with a degree and worked 2 jobs - subbing at a school full time and working 24 hours a week at the grocery store - and neither job included benefits. When she turned 26, our church paid an extra fee to be able to lengthen her benefits beyond 26 because she needed insurance (she had a pancreatic tumor at 21) but she couldn't get a job with it. She finally did get a teaching job this year and now she has her own insurance, thank heavens. My next daughter is 24 and in grad school and will graduate when she's almost 26 but her field should have her working pretty quickly. Hopefully her job will include benefits as well. She has been going to grad school and working THREE jobs at the same time - so not exactly being coddled.
Other members have made outstanding cases over the coverage itself, so I'll not bother.
But, in general...
I hate the constant stream of lies and the corrupt process by which it was passed over the objections of the American people.
I hate that Congress exempted themselves from it, as well as the never ending stream of "exemptions" illegally granted to political favorites, like unions.
I hate that it was so poorly written that over 70 illegal changes were made to the legislation, in the Oval office by a rogue president, and without the approval of Congress.
It's totally trash and needs to be shredded and rewritten LEGALLY...BY CONGRESS...with no exemptions for anyone. Or it will never be successful.

I find this beyond disturbing for someone who claims to follow the one who gave instructions to his followers in Matthew 25:31-46

Today-- or yesterday, Tuesday-- to how many people did you give meat? To how many did you give 'a drink?' How many strangers did you take in? How many prisoners did you visit?
Yep, I just want to see if you're doing what you accuse others of not doing. Or-- if you think it's up to a government, not individuals, to do these things.
I think it takes government AND Individuals AND churches AND other non-profit entities.
And as regards what I have given...let's see...a car, clothing, food, diapers, cat food, dog food, cat litter, had people stay with us, worked with a prison/jail ministry. Good enough for you?

What would we do without folks like you to remind us how wrong we are for being upset with a government that is using OUR taxes and other forms of financial revenue collected from hard working Americans to support those who, by way of sin (yes, coming here without permission, setting up homes and securing aide meant for REAL AMERICANS is sin according to the scritpure you quoted at moi) have SNUCK into our country; stolen jobs that those now on welfare should be holding down.

That is impressive. Really. Good for you. Just don't assume that those you are sort of judging and looking down your nose at, have never given something of personal value to help others, too?!
As for me, I've done a lot. Given a lot. And prayed tens times over for the down-trodden, unemployed, underemployed, disabled, lost and searching, hurting, addicted, suicidal, etc. I just don't brag about it. AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, I try to direct my resources and efforts to REAL, God fearing Americans. Not the cheaters, you know, those who circumvent our laws in order to get a piece of the things that well meaning, God loving Americans are willing to do to help those in need.
WE NEED TO TAKE CARE OF OUR OWN FIRST AND FOREMOST, not those who cut into the line, and didn't wait their PROPER turn. Shalom!

Forced to pay for it, premiums went way up, as dd co pay!
I don't think saved is interested in facts. She only cares about how it affected her. And she never has addressed the obvious holes in her own story that you pointed out.
