What does Scripture say about the King James Bible?

What does Scripture say about the King James Bible?

Work by S.Y. Kharchenko

In the sixth chapter of the book of Ezra, Scripture tells us the history of the appearance of the King James Bible. Scripture says that King James of England not only agreed to do this work, but also financed all the expences of this work "out of the kings house".

"In the first yeere of Cyrus the king, the same Cyrus the king made a decree concerning the house of God at Ierusalem: Let the house be builded, the place where they offered sacrifices, and let the foundations thereof of be strongly laid, the height therof threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof threescore cubites"
(Ezra.6:3) (KJV1611AV)

Height and width indicate to us the "volume" of the Book. threescore cubits and threescore cubits, prophetically, that's 66 books. The Old Testament consists of three large sections: the Law, the Prophets and the Psalms. Separate from them is the New Testament. Jesus Himself called us three sections of the Old Testament:

"And hee said vnto them, These are the words which I spake vnto you, while I was yet with you, þt all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the Law of Moses, & in the Prophets, and in the Psalmes concerning me" (Luke.24:44)

Notice how Scripture speaks prophetically about this construction of the Bible:

"With three rowes of great stones, and a row of new timber: and let the expences bee giuen out of the kings house" (Ezra.6:4)

The Old Testament is "three rowes of great stones", and the New Testament is "a row of new timber".

And so, unexpectedly for myself, I found a parallel place (1Kings.6:36). We will look at the last two paragraphs of the sixth chapter of 1 Kings. Solomon "built the inner Court..."

"¶ And hee built the inner Court with three rowes of hewed stone, and a row of Cedar beames."
(1Kings.6:36)

Here again we are talking about the construction of the Bible, its structure. We are figuratively shown the Old Testament, consisting of three large sections, and the New Testament separate from them. But further, in the next paragraph, Scripture gives us two important dates.

The first date shows us the start of work on the King James Bible. The month and year when "was the foundation" laid were named.

The second date (month and year) denotes the completion of this work: the translation into English of all the books of the Bible, the preparation of the manuscript for printing, and the printing of the first editions. It is said: "was the house finished throughout all the parts therof, and according to all the fashion of it". This work continued for seven years.

"¶ In the fourth yeere was the foundation of the house of the Lord layd, in the moneth Zif.

And in the eleuenth yeere in the moneth Bul (which is the eight moneth) was the house finished throughout all the parts therof, and according to all the fashion of it: So was he seuen yeeres in building it."
(1Kings.6:37-38)

So, in February 1604, work began on the King James Bible. It is said: "in the moneth Zif, which is the second moneth" (1Kings.6:1). In August 1611, the King James Version of the Bible was completed.

"It was typed in an old Gothic type, had large sizes and was very heavy; often, for safety, it was chained to a music stand."http://www.sbible.ru/qb019.htm

"Just one year after the huge, pulpital-sized King James Bible of 1611 was printed, and chained to the pulpit in every church in England, printing began on the very first editions of the King James Bible in acceptable sizes."

https://harvestukraine.org/rus/litera/perry/historyofKJVrus.htm

In the 1612 edition of the King James Bible, a final correction was made, namely, in the book of Ruth, the pronoun "he" was replaced with the pronoun "she"
(Ruth.3:15). With this correction, it was reprinted in a small format with a Latin script. The year and month of this edition are given to us in the sixth chapter of the book of Ezra.

"And this honse was finished on the third day of the month Adar, which was in the sixt yere of the reigne of Darius the king." (Ezra.6:15)

"the third day" means the third month - March. The month of Adar is the twelfth month in the Hebrew calendar, so the month of Adar signifies the 12th year; "the sixt year" means six centuries.

So, seven months have passed since the first edition of the King James Bible was published. In March 1612, the construction of the "house of God" was fully completed.

This small-format edition of the Bible was intended for ordinary people. More details about this are written in the work "The Bible of the King".

Making Ezra 6 refer to any translation of the bible involves taking the passage out of its context. The book of Ezra opens as follows:

“Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and also put it in writing, saying, Thus says Cyrus king of Persia: All the kingdoms of the earth the LORD God of heaven has given me. And He has commanded me to build Him a house at Jerusalem which is in Judah.” (Ezr 1:1-2 NKJV)

What possible reason would God have for suddenly changing the subject from King Cyrus of Persia issuing a proclamation about the rebuilding of the temple in Jerusalem, to talking about a translation of the bible into a language which was unknown at the time Ezra was written? You say: "Scripture says that King James of England not only agreed to do this work, but also financed all the expenses of this work "out of the kings house". But Scripture doesn't say that at all. It says that King Cyrus of Persia not only agreed that the work of rebuilding the temple in Jerusalem should be done, but financed that work.

You make a strange statement about the size of the temple being prophetic of the 66 books of the bible. You wrote: "threescore cubits and threescore cubits, prophetically, that's 66 books." "Threescore" is 60. So threescore and threescore is 120, not 66. Besides, Bibles in French, German, Icelandic and other languages too, as well as other translations into English, have 66 books; it wasn't only the 1611 translation that had that number of books.

Incidentally, why is this in "Other Christian Denominations?"

The meanderings of a psychotic mind. Just my humble one.

So, does Scripture say anything about the Great Bible or the Bishop Bible
"...And what about other Bibles that were translated and printed before the King James Version? For example, in the 16th century, several translations appeared in English alone, including the Great Bible, the Geneva Bible, and the Bishops' Bible. During the Reformation, many Protestant translations were printed in different languages. Concerning all these works and their authors, Scripture says:

"this worke goeth fast on, and prospereth in their hands" (Ezra 5:8).

The work went on so quickly and successfully, after so many years of "idleness," that the authorities "on this side the Riuer", and "their companions" could not help but ask: "Who hath commaunded you to build this house, and to make vp this wall?" (Ezra 5:3). "By what permission is all this "building" going on?

Now, pay attention to the most important difference between the King James Version and all the others printed earlier. The translators of the King James Bible had at their disposal the entire text of the books of the Old Testament and the New Testament, recorded in the original Antiochian manuscripts. It says: "and search was made" (Ezra 6:1), and "there was found" (Ezra 6:2). God Himself gave the command to find these texts, they were specifically sought and they were found. These Antiochian manuscripts are the foundation on which the house was "built" in the 17th century. They "builded, and they prospered" (Ezra 6:14). But the translators of other Bibles did not have such manuscripts, they were hidden from them, which means that they used, mainly, the translations available to them, used what was "at hand". The fact is that the Roman Catholic Church "and their companions" throughout the Dark Ages made great efforts to destroy the manuscripts containing the Word of God. Their owners was dyeing a martyr's death, and the manuscripts were burned at the stake..."

What does Scripture say about the King James Bible?

In the sixth chapter of the book of Ezra, Scripture tells us the history of the appearance of the King James Bible. Scripture says that King James of England not only agreed to do this work, but also financed all the expences of this work "out of the kings house".

"In the first yeere of Cyrus the king, the same Cyrus the king made a decree concerning the house of God at Ierusalem: Let the house be builded, the place where they offered sacrifices, and let the foundations thereof of be strongly laid, the height therof threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof threescore cubites"

Height and width indicate to us the "volume" of the Book. threescore cubits and threescore cubits, prophetically, that's 66 books. Probably because 'a Baptist' is going to be something that he ain't and he knows it.

O.P. What does the Scripture say about the King James Bible?

We`re under the Judgment of God.

An encroachment was allowed.

"Yeah, which are Spiritual..."

and this just in, The Moon is Part of the Sun.

Actually, though, if you think about,
"an Ophir is a tenth part of an Ephod"

Exodus 16:36...
