Only if you are describing yourself. It's not nice to call other people names. At least, that's what I teach my kids.

When I was in the IFB movement, I heard Phil Kidd preach against neon shoe strings. From that moment on, I have as much confidence in what he says as I do in Michael Jackson's claim he has had only 2 plastic surgeries

Was he being sarcastic or was he serious? He is known for his sarcasm and outrageous statements. It's his MO. Perhaps you missed something in the translation. Let's give the man a dog's chance even though I have criticized him myself.

IMHO, one of his worst follies was the following statement: "If you got saved out of the NIV, you probably ain't even saved." Furthermore, I believe he has made this statement without saying, "probably." Neon shoe strings are inconsequential.

It is True Preacher Kidd says things like Preacehing agaist Neon Shoe Strings and he will only be joking. I have said it once and I will say it again he HATES sin with a passion and if you would listen to his life story you would see why he preaches so hard against sin. Also there are alot of tapes that I have heard and you will know that he is very compassionate to sinners and also he will go to places toreach the Lost that most will not even attempt to go. Also one more thing I have always read and heard was that Jesus and some others were very strong in there preaching and he would make Preacher Kidd look like a easy going guy.
I for one am so thankful that there are some men who will preach things that others will not. He isn't out for the money he just loves the Lord and the People. I hope and pray when my Kids are older that they will have some preachers standing up and preaching against sin like My Pastor, Bro. Sammy Allen and Bro. Phil Kidd.

His website sure makes him look good. I did notice that almost all of his meetings were in the south where most Baptist churches are. I would like to see him draw those great crowds where I live and in Wyoming. Maybe his website might not be so congratulatory of himself. He certainly sounds better than William Carey. His website says nothing (at least none that I could find) about his education and his doctrine, etc.

What does everyone think about the controversial preacher Phil Kidd?
He ain't controversial to me. I've heard a few of his sermons, and I've liked what I've heard. He's just straight forward and tells it like it is. (A few preachers today could use some of that philosophy instead of sugar coating and beating around the bush.) Thank God for men that PREACH!
I've listened to "A Glypse Of Glory" about three times, and I STILL get excited when he gets to the part were he says "Thank God I'm not going to hell!" and that Heaven is a place the devil will no longer bother us.
I'd like to give a copy of "Be My Guest To The Depths Of Hell" to anyone who mocked a literal hell. I'd love for all the unsaved to hear that one.
Now I don't know if he really said he wouldn't preach to blacks or not. I've never heard anything to that effect of him, but if he REALLY did say that, there I'd have a problem. I love everybody, and I don't care if you're purple, you ought to be able to hear preaching.
Now I'm not saying he didn't say that, I don't know. I'm just saying I've not heard that from him. If I actualy heard him say it, or see it in what he wrote I would accept it for truth, but I'm learning to be careful about who and what I trust to be fact.
I can only go on what I've seen and heard myself, and so far the preaching I've heard from him has been great.

TRANSLATION: If you are a slobbering, ignorant, false teacher (KJVO), blasphemer of God's word, a distorter of truth, a revisionist historian, and use the pulpit as a place to bully, insult, and promote racism, you are "telling it like it is".

Classic.

Not surprising that he is popular is KJVO, IFBdom.

Any preacher worth his salt and that is faithful to truth would reject that worthless dogmeat as the false teacher he is.

DD - I wanted to cut out your post as being to acerbic and attacking and mean-spirited.

But I can't. Guess I will let another Moderator edit if they deem necessary.

Your description of that "preacher" gets my

John 1:17
17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. (KJV)

Daniel, I see absolutely no grace and little truth in your above posts concerning Phil Kidd.

BTW, I have never even heard of this preacher before, but he does not deserve the ridicule you lamblasted him with.

Terry, false teachers are to be marked and dealt with severely. Check the Pastoral epistles especially.

false teachers preach another gospel besides that which Christ preached- salvation though the blood of Christ.
Even if you personally do not like his techniques, or whatever, he DOES preach Jesus.
He may not have the best "pulpit side manners", but I would not lump him in with that of false teachers

I have said this before but I wonder how we could all handle the preaching that Christ done. Do you think he was easy and never was hard in the pulpit. I am with Abby when she said to many preachers sugar coat there sermons and want preach the truth. I have heard a Glimpse of Glory and it is the best message ever on Heaven and I think all of you should get you one and listen to it. I want to give a great big

to Preacher Kidd and say that I am so glad there are still men who don't care about money or popularity but are more concerned about peoples souls.

You forgot to mention that he is only interested in the white mans soul. He isn't really. He is a false teacher in need of Christ.

You are wrong again sir. You need to hear his tape on racism and he will explain why he mainly preaches to the white churches it is the same reason some black preachers only preach to blacks or mexicans to mexicans or Jews to Jews etc.... I also want to say that I have been in several meetings where there were black people present and he treats them the same as the whites and they love him too.

I'm awfully glad Paul didn't feel that way...

Never heard of this before... but I have not heard him preach since I was a teenager, I thought he preached " hot and heavy" which I liked, but was a little rough at the wrong times which you can do!
As far as the mixed congregation issue... ouch!
I am married to a puerto rican preacher, but our upbringings similar as far as our manner of living etc. In know this is a touchy issue! I don't think it is Good for some races to marry but not forbidden.
Anywho, I don't know what Bro. Kidd said, or believes on this issue, but, I can't see the sense in not preaching to different races... but, can see an issue with different cultures thrown in a church together! Which, is not an issue with black/white in america. Todays black/white culture are almost one in the same. However, I have first hand seen the problems with Spanish/White culture trying to mix in a church setting... Good gravy! I hope no one will accuse me of hating any one race, God made us different! That's all! My family and the Hubby's are totally different and it took me ( and I still am ) a long time to get used to the inlaws!

Does any of this make sense?

Yes Peggy you do make alot of sence. Preacher Kidd does have a message about race mixing and one of the things he really says is what you said about the cultures being different and in that message he asks this mexican couple to stand and he tells how he loves them and how they love him. Anyway I said all of that to say this he does think marrying out of your race is wrong but he feels like that divorce is wrong to so if you marry you should stay married and make the best of the situation. Now with all of that mumbo jumbo I hope that makes sence

Is this just his opinion, or does he try to pass this off as Bible doctrine? If so, verses please. What's his reason for making a point of not preaching to non-white congregations?

I am like Peggy but instead my wife is Mexican. I wish everyone could experience different languages and cultures through marriage or just exposure to different people.

Yeah realy biblical speaking or practically speaking is the question. Segregation is probably the most practical way of living life, pastoring churches, working, ect BUT no where in the scriptures concerning this church age in which we live are we commanded or even suggested that we be segregated 1Cor 12:13 and many other passages. Now if you are a legalist you probably can find lots of passages in the Old Testament or maybe even some passages in the New Testament supporting segregation between Jew and Gentile.

Now let me explain what I mean by segregation is best practically speaking. It is much easier for people of the same race and culture to interact among each other. In the case of Phil Kidd he probably feals more comfortable relating to a all white congregation when he preaches, he himself probably has spent most of his life around white people.

My two cents worth!

I am not sure of the not preaching to nonwhite congregants issue. I never heard of that before... and wouldn't agree in that. I believe he was one of those preachers who goes into ( wherever he has to) to win the lost. Anyway, I would like to hear exactly what he said for myself before I would make a judgement on the man based on one persons statement! I'll give him the benefit of a doubt until proof of otherwise.
In Christ,
Peggy
