First we will celebrate our youngest's birthday (she'll be 8) and then we'll send the kids to bed and hope we stay awake enough to see the ball drop.

I have an invitation for a "masquerade ball" arranged by a metro Christian singles' group, but I'm quite sure I'm not going. I'd most probably be one of the oldest ones there, have made no arrangement for a costume, and I'd likely end up just doing nothing there anyway, as a game leg and cane do not make for very good stomping the floor. I'm sure there's a bowl game or 2 on television.

Probably just my wife and I eating some favorite finger foods (shrimp, yes!) and watching a movie or something.

New Year's Eve has lost a lot of its former luster for us. Time was, before our salvation, when we would go on a serious drunk, but those days are long over.

We've done the church thing. Nothing worse than seeing a bunch of Baptist adults trying to pretend that they are the youth group doing a lock-in (lock-ins are from the debil anyway...).

Best part? I get to kiss my bride and wish her a happy new year!
