No percussionist out there? Well I started playing around 11 and i am 22 now and have stuck with it so far. I did all the middle school band things. Drumline high school jazz band. Played in a christain group for about year. Right now I play to headphones to keep my chops up and looking for people to play with. My baby is a set of pearl session custom, 10,12,13,14,16 toms 16 deep bass and 6 deep snare, in a Red to black fade with pearl icon rack, one sweet set!!! Haven't recorded on them yet. Zildjian cymbals all the way expect for my hats. I also had a set of Tama starclassics real good drums also!
I did take some piano lesson. And I tried t-bone but when i did my arms were to short to hit that last slide position and if I did the slide would come all the way off!!!!!

Peace love and drum fills [IMG]

I had the benefit of being raised with a band director for a dad. I play piano, trombone, tuba, euphonium, french horn, some trumpet (not much), keyboard melodica, and the spoons. [IMG]

    Hello Everyone!

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Dale McNamee and I want to thank the Baptist Board administrators for approving my membership so that I could join this discussion.

My wife,Mary Clare, and I are Reformed Episcopalians and attend Bishop Cummins Memorial Church in Catonsville,Md.(just West of Baltimore). If you want to know about the church,it has a website: http://www.bishopcummins.org

The Reformed Episcopalian denomination is very small, relative to the other denominations, and was formed after a split in 1875 between the Episcopalians who wanted to hold to their Reformation Faith and the liberals who didn't. If you want more information than I can give here, please visit http://www.recus.org

Changing gears...I play the conga drum in my church's music ministry for the 11am service. I also play bongos, djembe, ashiko drum, bougarabou (pronounced boo-gar-boo,the African cousin to the conga drum),doumbek, and frame drums. While I play the conga drum mainly,I'll play the others when requested for African,Hebrew, and Middle-Eastern songs by my music director.

I began playing at the age of 25 and have been playing for 25 years as a result from being called by the Lord to become a church musician and leading me to choose the conga drum to play for Him.

I always look forward to worshipping the Lord and playing for His glory! And I really enjoy playing with, and supporting,my fellow musicians every Sunday!

I played at my former church for 11 years before joining Bishop Cummins. I enjoy playing the hand drums because of being able to play the melody of a song in the rhythm and the wide range of tones that I can get out of the drum. I also enjoy playing the many rhythms that I have learned.

Drumming is both relaxing and energizing for me and I'm teaching Mary Clare how to play and she's been doing well at it. We get together and play to keep her skills up and we get a nice duet going!

Changing gears once again...In addition to my musical duties,I help Mary Clare with setting up for communion on Communion Sundays.

In closing,I want to say a big "HELLO!" to Copn'NC as a fellow percussionist and to mention that Mary Clare is also involved in law enforcement as a dispensary nurse at the Department of Corrections state prison in Jessup,MD. As she says: "You cuff them,I baby-sit them!" ;-D

    Well,that's all for now!

    In Christ,

    Dale

    BaptistinRichmond,

No, I'm not familiar with Robin Mark. What kind of music does he play?

What do you think of Phil Keaggy?

    Blessings,

    Mike

I used to play the violin when I was at school. I wish I had continued with it. It is still my favourite instrument.

    Blessings
