What is an Idol?

[psalms109:31]

Isaiah 44:
16 Half of the wood he burns in the fire;
over it he prepares his meal,
he roasts his meat and eats his fill.
He also warms himself and says,
“Ah! I am warm; I see the fire.”
17 From the rest he makes a god, his idol;
he bows down to it and worships.
He prays to it and says,
“Save me! You are my god!”

It is so easy to use a part of the word of God and worship it and never see the whole truth we are blinded by part of the truth.

Jesusism I will call it has been around a long time.

This can not be contained in Calvinism or Arminism. This details every word that comes from the mouth of God. How can you put the scripture that was spoken that points only to Christ the scripture which is our doctrine above something created by man?

I praise God for those who have stuck to the word and want to know as i do Christ and Him crucified.

This is not true. Bible doctrine is God given.The truth about Christ is revealed and can be known ,written down , and discussed.
The doctrine is God given. He gave it to man to be understood.

16Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.

17If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.

This is for man to know.

An Idol ...is any person ,place, or thing, that puts itself in the place of God.

The only sound doctrine i have found is scripture, it can't be disputed. Man can try, but all they are doing is fighting God.

Tell me some sound doctrine from scripture that another scripture can't add to the truth of it and not expond it more and give us more truth. Scripture can't be minimized or put in a man made box!

Yes.....the system of intrepretation known as calvinism seeks to bring the whole man, to the whole Christ, and everything He is doing in His universe.
It seeks to go all through all the scripture and present a correct biblical and scriptural worldview.

I heard many on this site show both sides are missing something and they give scripture to prove. Then the person say's things so it can fit in their doctrine like world and all, or Jesus can lose someone He has been given for instance. To change all and world into the way some want to make it, or to say Jesus will lose someone will continue an argument from generation to generation when the scripture clearly tells us to not fight about words, because it only ruins the listener.

I believe that it makes their system into an Idol. I think that is why there is an rejection of the other system. There is falacy's on both sides of the fence.

probably MOST overlooked study point is need to place word/verse/book in its proper contexually basis...

Understand what you are saying here...

that at times one can see Scripture ONLY through lense of calvinism/Arminism, Covenant/Dispensalism etc

that at times our particular 'systems" have to be "proved" that we let them drive just how the Bible is to be read and study...

John Calvin is a good teacher/theologian, but IF forced to choose between how he understood some things biblically and Apostle paul laid it out...

Any disagreements, sound with Paul!

Systems are valid and good to get us into deeper aspects of the Word, but just need to remember any and all of them are NOT infallible in understandings in scripture, that it JUST the Bible itself!

You are unwilling to answer the question, so I will take that as you concede the point, and you are ashamed to answer because you are not really grounded and settled in the truth.
Instead you are content to try to bring down those who would actually attempt to study the scriptures with understanding.If you despise all the teachers God has given to His church, do you despise your pastor also?

Scripture

I have made myself plain to everyone. I have been expressing what I believe or not since I have been here. I have not hidden anything from no one.

I agree with many of what other have come to, but I will continue to do what my signature say's.

I will test any spirit, with the word of God, not with creed that man have come up with.

If you have a specific problem with what I believe, we can discuss it. I have great respect for orthodoxy, my reverence for inspiration is far greater

Whatever you believe is your creed, whether it is soteriology,harmartiology,pneumatology,eschatology.....etc.

We have all these Inspired scriptures that we can find specific doctrine from it and then form it into our god and say save me. What do we do with the rest make a fire with it to prepare our meal?
