From another thread:

Full time would be 40 a week. Man has hours outside those 40 ...

If you are a pastor - on average how hours a week do you spend in the ministry of the church?
or
How many hours a week on average do you think your pastor spends in ministry of the church

You could make the numbers come out however you like. I am of the school of thought that Bible study does not count as work time. It's the duty of every Christian to Study The Bible.

I am hardly in my study at the church building - (heating is a problem) , so I work quite often at home.
pay wise, I am not even half time - but I probally send over 40 hours a week in church business

The timing I was taught in Bible college was one hour in the study for every minute in the pulpit.
I find that as I prepare a message - I do a lot of digging. Can I "knock" out a message in 2 or 3 hours --- Sure! but
to be fully prepare - it does take quite a bit of time.

The work of most Pastors is never "done" and the boundaries of what is "work" are so vague. Most pastors are under an incredible amount of pressure and are asked to do the impossible.

I have a saying: "To fail the impossible is not failing."

I think a lot of people are not pleased with the performance and choices of their pastors. I am in awe of many of them, even when they "fail", and even when it is a messy "fail".
