It's not liberalism though. 
It's become a catch-all phrase for anyone who does something a Christian doesn't agree with, and because I'm not a Republican I get lumped in with that and I DO NOT WANT THAT on me. I'm not out here supporting child rapists and late term abortions and stuff like that, even if I technically fall more on the liberal side in the political spectrum. Save the spotted owls AND stop abortion. Stop animal abuse on farms where they're raised for food, AND impose the death penalty on sex offenders.
See? It's easy to be a liberal conservative.

What a ridiculous blamefest! The liberals. humanistic Counseling. Victim culture. Roman Catholicism. All Sundaykeeping Churches for not keeping the Law. Soft preachers for not preaching hell and sin enough. (such fearmongering tactics are one of the biggest things society is revolting against, so how does anyone figure that would continue to control the people?)
Just name the best scapegoat and win a prize!
Perhaps the problem is human sinfulness, and as much as we complain of liberals and humanists "denying sin", it is WE who deny it the same, thinking the problem is only bad laws, movements or teaching (the SAME EXACT THING as the judge saying the perp only needs counseling!!!) and the historic Church that in every age thought it had found the way to control sin (through fear) and then presumed to have built some almost sinless Christian kingdom. When it all unraveled, and sin exploded out into the open, then we had to go and point the finger at anyone and everyone else. (Ignoring the corruption and abuse in the Church and its controlled cultures). i would say that all of organized Churchianity (no matter which denomination, sect, or laws they keep) is Babylon the Great!
How can anyone expect a more godly society when everyone thinks the problem is only everyone else? (The nonbelievers think the problem is Christianity with its control tactics. Who's right?) We are being no different than anyone else, and all anyone want to do is sit and tell others how to behave, or call down judgment on them. Is this really what the Gospel of Christ is about? If we don't know, we should not be complaining about others' wrong beliefs.

But in this particular thread we are not coming at this from a theological angle. We are simply commenting on how this particular type of sinfullness is manifiesting itself on a practical level.

It would be like if we were commenting on how O.J. Simpson butchered those people. We speak of hitting them with his fists, slashing them with the knife, etc...and someone comes on and says...
"Oh, cmon folks. It was sin that cause it.!"
Umm...we know that.

A more comparable analogy would be if people were constantly blaming fists and knives for crimes, and then took the OJ case and said "See; look what fists and knives have done to society!"
Just keep in mind; at least one person here is blaming the lack of keeping of "the Law", and not just the commandment on adultery or killing, but also the sabbath. That would implicate you if you do not keep it, as well as the rest of the Sunday keepers. Do you still say that is just a "commentary" on the manifestation if sin? Others blamed the Catholics, but then the Catholics will say that Protestants breaking away from their "apostolic authority" and teaching liberty and "private interpretation" eroded western civilization, and are the blame; which would also implicate all of us. Musims look at all of Christendom and say that our concepts of "grace" are at fault; we should be more strict and legalistic like they are.
This is why this blamefest is ridiculous. Everyone is pointing everywhere else, picking on their usual scapegoats whether it is realistic or not, and the issue IS ultimately the sinfulness of all men, not just the sinfulness of only certain groups. And this is all theological, BTW.
People should read Michael Horton's Beyond Culture Wars. He handles all this stuff well (including the anti-theological basis of much of our rhetoric). I heard years ago he would be coming out with a new edition, but haven't heard about it.
