Jesus said "God is NOT the God of the dead but of the living" when speaking to Moses about the dead - and this is Christ's argument in Matt 22 for the future resurrection! Christ is arguing with the Sadducees that the statement made to Moses COULD NOT be true - unless there was a future resurrection of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob since they are all dead at the time and "God is NOT the God of the dead".
They were still all alive at time of Christ, as those in him will never really die!

Acts 2;1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
Acts 2:29-31 “Men and brethren, let me speak freely to you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. “Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his body, according to the flesh, He would raise up the Christ to sit on his throne,[fn] “he, foreseeing this, spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that His soul was not left in Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption.
Acts 13:36 “For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell asleep, was buried with his fathers, and saw corruption;

David was dead.
David fell asleep.
David was buried.

David, David, David, David, David........................................................Who? David!

Fifty days after captivity had been led captive, The soul named David was still in Hades and his body of flesh had seen corruption. The soul named David was at that time still dead and buried and his flesh had seen corruption. The soul named David was still asleep with his fathers and his flesh had seen corruption. Not only was he asleep with his fathers, he was also asleep with his sons, regardless of their age at the time of their death.

Fifty days after captivity had been led captive, their souls also were left in Hades and their flesh has seen corruption.

Paul calls them "The DEAD in Christ" 1 Thess 4.
Christ said "Lazarus SLEEPs I go that I may wake HIM... Lazarus is dead" John 11.

Lazarus existed in a dormant form.

Paul calls them "The DEAD in Christ" 1 Thess 4.
Christ said "Lazarus SLEEPs I go that I may wake HIM... Lazarus is dead" John 11.

Lazarus existed in a dormant form.
He was physically dead, and Jesus brought His body back to life, but his spirit was still alive at that time!

"He" - the Person, he "our friend" -- was "asleep" --

1 Thess 4
13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. 15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.

Asleep is a way they identified that the person body was now physically dead, but absent from the body ,meant present with the Lord, unless you believe Jesus is still soul sleeping!

Asleep is a way they identified that the person body was now physically dead,

The body sleeps each night. At death it is annihilated back to dust. It is the spirit/soul that survives the first death - in a dormant state.

but absent from the body ,meant present with the Lord,

No text says that.

unless you believe Jesus is still soul sleeping!
No logic in that.

So paul did not say to us that he desired to be put to death, in order to be right then present with Christ?

Indeed -- you are "quoting yourself"

More Bible - less "Quoting yourself" please.

Jesus was alive in the spirit and awake when his body died, correct?
