What Is The Cross Of Christ?

There has been an ongoing discussion about weather one should wear a cross or not... If one has one in their church or on their person, should it be plain or a crucifix?... I don't wear one or even have one in my church, as the cross of Christ is an emblem of shame... Not Jesus's shame but mine as he carried out the will of God and did what I could not... Appease an offended God... Crucifixion was for criminals and you and I qualified because he was crucified for me, and you... He was sinless!... There was no sin in him but the Lord laid our sins on him... Believe it I do but explain it I can't!... The floor is yours... Comments???... What is the Cross Of Christ?... Brother Glen:)

I consider "The Cross" to begin in the garden and end at the resurrection.

The work on the cross was only done on the cross.
No. It was all an interwoven process. The final consecration to The Father in The Garden. The Stripes at the trial. The death on The Cross. Taking the keys from Satan. Without the Resurrection, it would have been for naught.

In 1 Corinthians 1:17 Paul wrote, "For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not in cleverness of speech, so that the cross of Christ would not be made void." What is the cross of Christ? It is the message that Jesus died on behalf of sinners. It is part of the Gospel message.

Unbiblical nonsense.
Depend on how the statement is used. Without The Sacrifice of The Lamb, there was no redemption fromspiritual death. The process of Calvary, death completed by resurrection, brought that redemption. It all depends on how literally or figuratively you apply the term.

That does not actually explain your apparent unbilbical argument, "Taking the keys from Satan."

You making wrong assumptions does not make me wrong. There is an epidemic on this board of some people assuming things that are not Said.
Did I say there was a battle in Hell?
Did I say Jesus was tortured in Hell?
Taking the keys from Satan is proper symbolism that has been used for a very long time. Until Jesus died and was raised from the dead, the plan of redemption was incomplete. Jesus preaching to the Saints in Paradise was an essential part of that plan. Their redemption was complete. The keys were taken. Nothing unbiblical about that.

It is unbibliical, and therefore not proper symbolism. You or others saying so does not make it proper.
There are two claims at least you have made, and have not substantiated. Regarding what you meant regarding work on the cross beginning in the garden. And now so called keys from Satan.

The cross is where the sin debt of the Christ’s ppl was paid for.

The Holy Cross an emblem of shame? Surely you jest! It is an emblem of victory, not shame. An emblem of God's power and might, not shame.

Good grief, where do you get this kind of thinking?
