So what is the social justice movement and why is it so bad?

I want to understand this subject myself, since you guys would not be so united on this issue for no reason.

It is bad because it creates victimhood. It works to create reconciliation on things other than Christ. It is about redistributing wealth and power and now they are wanting to do this evil in the name of Christ.

The SJM replaces God's justice with worldly justice. The SJM that has found a niche in evangelicalism is the direct result of biblical illiteracy. This is the sort of thing that happens when the Bible is abandoned and all that is left is humanistic philosophy.

The ERLC is part of the problem and not part of the solution. It should be abolished in the name of saving hard-earned money. Why does the SBC need a political lobby? Are they trying to get government money or are they trying to obtain government favor for themselves?

Something seems terribly wrong here. The video by the ERLC that Jerome put up says social justice ministry is to do things like help or start a food pantry, help women in crisis pregnancies, give free medical care to the poor, and get involved in homeless ministries. Is that it? Almost every church I have ever been to does that kind of stuff.

For you guys to be so united against social justice, I figure I am probably being lied to by the ERLC on what constitutes social justice ministry. If they mean charity, especially to the Brethren in need, well that is just part and parcel of being a Christian according to the New Testament. Am I being lied to by the ERLC?

Yes, that particular explanation has nothing to do with what the Social Justice Movement is really about. They are using the term loosely, much like so many use the term evolution. It's a great way to deceptively slip in an unbiblical concept that leads many astray.

Scary why?

Well he says social justice is distributive justice, taking wealth from the "haves" to give to the "have nots." He says social justice is feminist. He says social justice is coerced racial equality. He says social justice is LGBTQA+. He sounds like a liberal college professor, especially quoting Rawls, not a Christian leader. He uses scripture only once, but does not define the term in the Old Testament for justice.

Because justice in the Old Testament and the New is based on the Law of God. God defines right and wrong. We don't. It is good to punish evil and reward good, assuming we go to the revealed standard we have in scripture, not what we make up.

The SBC's North American Mission Board:

The People of God: Catalysts for Social Justice

"we—at the North American Mission Board—would like you to lead your congregation to join the social justice movement"

"By definition, social injustice refers to something that is wrong in our society....things in the world around us that are not as they should be. Some of the ‘wrongs’ that we see are caused by oppression"

"let me state it clearly here: All evangelicals must engage in social justice, to correct things that are wrong"

"[It's] an overwhelming message within the Bible. According to some estimates, there are over 2,000 biblical texts that lead to one important conclusion: All evangelicals must engage in social justice. We must strive ardently to foster compassionate cultures within our churches so that the body of Christ exudes the aroma of a caring and merciful people."

"What does involvement look like?...not all evangelicals will engage in the same type of social justice or to the same level of personal involvement....
some believers will have the expertise necessary to engage in political action....some Christians will raise awareness through social media or personal conversations....A very select few believers will combine all of these types of personal engagement to be used of God as an agent of catalytic social justice on a particular issue."

"We could (and should) apply this framework to every social injustice that individuals encounter in our culture....There is no freedom in Christ, however, to avoid doing what Scripture clearly calls us to. Involvement is beyond question....Our hope, as evangelicals, should be to see God burden his people men and women with relentless compassion....[to] see the possibility of being catalysts of social justice become reality"

Thanks, Jerome! NAMB is wrong. Social justice is about communism & Islam. That is why Greear wrote so much good about Islam. That is why Mohler says that he was wrong about sodomites. That is why Russell Moore hates Trump & lies about him. The SBC is fat with money to throw around on parties for their employees. There is no thrift in the SBC.

This guy is scary. I get it now, thank you.

Vodie Baucham is okay. He gave an accurate definition. Social justice is a political movement grounded in communism and allied with Islam. It seeks to destroy the USA & loot it for the victors. It is often referenced to the French Revolution. It is deep inside churches as they debate what to do with sodomites. They want the sodomite money to prop up failing churches as Christianity declines in the West.
