What is the USA official reason for the season

If the Government issues a national holiday whats it giving the holiday for?

What is it calling the holiday?

For years we have had no problem with saying Merry Christmas.

Now all the sudden we do.

Does anyone else see a growing problem here?

Distribution of religious affiliation in the USA, 2000.
Christian: 159 million Christians 84.2%

Mormons (2% of total)

Other religions: 6.5% (3%)

No religion: 7.6% (8% -- 3% are agnostic; 2% are atheist; 3% have no preference)

No answer: 1.9%

So what this says is 84% of Americans have some belief in Christianity and yet we let 16% of the population control what we teach in schools, say in public, and display in our towns, community, and lives. Its sad very sad.

My question is whats the National Holiday?

To make the "bottom line" print in "BLACK" instead of "RED". :D

It's "Commercial-mas".

not "CHRIST"-mas".

Those must be ancient or faulty stats - 159 million is 84.2% of 242 million. Last time I checked the US population was nearing 300 million.

If there are 159 million "Christians" in America they are only 53% of the population. That would make it easier to see how the christianised Christmas would be in decline.

And we all know that all or list "Christian" are not.

We need to face the facts folks - the US is NOT a Christian nation. What do you expect a non-Christian nation to celebrate?

I've heard it said the rapture would be a major events, but with so few "accounted worthy", I doubt they will be missed, except by friends/family.

I think it's incredibly amusing that many of the people who go on about how Christmas isn't really a scriptural holiday, or about how Christmas wasn't observed by the early colonists, are the same folks who are complaining about the secularization of the day in society.

Some people just like to hear themselves complain.

Capitalism. </font>[/QUOTE]But how long did their "TEMPLE" to captalism stand, crushed from the "TOP" down. (twin towers)

God isn't finished with America just yet, and as long as there are a "FEW" Christians left, it will still be the nation he established for his "GLORY".

I wouldn't want to be around after the Christians are gone.

To be sure! Ten would have save Sodom & Gommorah; don't know what the figure is (if there IS one) for the US of A.

We do know for sure that we (Christians) do count for the preservation of the nation to some extent, and when we're gone it will literally be Hell on earth here then!
