Has anyone ever asked you what your astrology sign is? What do you usually answer?

How about this :

I COME UNDER THE SIGN OF THE CROSS OF CALVARY ! :jesus:

Western astrology or Eastern astrology. They are not the same. Then for those born in Jan. and often in early Feb. do you mean by the Western calendar or the Chinese calendar?

No, I do not believe in either, but I know by their thinking what my sign is ... and it means nothing.

Not that I remember. I do remember being told what it was by my sister when I was approx. 2nd grade, or at least old enough to read this book she got from somewhere telling about the 'characteristics' of those who 'under the same sign.' From then on, whenever I heard anything about astology mentioned-- as on television shows-- I just ignored it, until I was about 18, when I began to be bothered by it, including by those who talk about it but don't 'take it seriously.' I don't want it to be 'taken' at all-- except out of almost all newspapers, in which it appears, and unwanted pitches on Facebook, et al.

Since you asked, Dragon.

Bill, by the Western calendar I was born in the same year as you. However by the Chinese calendar I was born 2 days before Chinese New Year. So if we go by the Chinese calendar I was born in the year of the Rabbit. If we go by the Western calendar I was also born in the year of the Dragon.

I am a Capricorn, but I don't remember the last time I read my horoscope. However, I do remember one occasion vividly. In approximately 1975, I was having my SS class of 7th grade boys over to my house to help me paint the living room of our rental house. For some unknown reason, I glanced at my horoscope that morning while waiting for the boys to arrive. It read in part, "Your most productive efforts today will be spent working alone." A truer word was never spoken!

This is why some people start to believe in it - they read one correct prediction in the horoscope column and get hooked. Of course, horoscope columns are a watered down type of astrology. Astrologers actually look at the person's birth chart.

But not only is this evil, it's forbidden by God. I speak as a former professional astrologer who practiced for 8 yrs. and who also taught astrology for over 5 yrs.

Here's my article on astrology:

Here's my article on horoscopes

All astrologers have spirit guides (demons).

I usually say, "why do you ask?"

At some point early on, I let them know I used to be an astrologer. This always interests people and gives me a chance to give my testimony and witness.

England was one of the most superstituous countries in the world. I can remember the lady down street who read your tealeaves. One would walk down street with morning teacup inhand for her to read before you went off to work.............religiously!

I am also Capricorn,,the old goat,,,and I have been called that a few times. Don't know about all the other predictions.

Have fun wth it and don't take it seriously.

Cheers,

Jim

Jim, I see your point but you can't have fun with something that is based on evil. Satan is good at making evil things look innocent - such as horoscopes.

There is a very complex spiritual system that lies at the root of astrology - as with most forms of the occult. Astrology is a form of divination and is strongly denounced and hated by God. "Fun" forms of it lure people in and should be denounced and avoided.

There is a verse, I think in Corthinans that says something to the effect that sin is fun.

I cant place the verse, can someone help me?

Well, I am not into horoscopes or even the old lady reading tealeaves, but I'm not going to get my knickers in a knot over triviality. There are enough more serious areas to concentrate my efforts.

Cheers,

I usually answer in a similar manner but add another, as well, to the question of what is your birth sign.

My answer is I have two signs - the sign of the dollar and the sign of the cross.

The first has to do with my natural birth, as a natural born citizen of the United States.

(The dollar sign with two 'verticals' is derived from the superimposition of a capital 'U' over a caqpital 'S'.)

The second has to do with my spiritual birth as a citizen of heaven.

The usual response I get is along the lines of "No, that is not what I mean. What is your Astrological sign?"

Then I tell them that since I don't accept the validity of any such Astrological signs, there simply aren't any others that apply to me.

Jim, maybe you haven't seen the people damaged by getting into the occult like I have, but there's nothing trivial about it. Do you not see how making it look harmless and trivial is a front? I can't tell you how many people got into astrology or started going to astrologers (which becomes a spiritual bondage) from reading horoscopes and getting interested. I have a whole area of my ministry dealing with the occult, and most people get into it via small "trivial" ways.

What does anyone think about reading "fortunes" as from 'fortune cookies?' A few did that in our group (Bible study department) yesterday when we went to lunch at a Chinese buffet. I don't read those, but they seem to be basically social proverbs, per se. One I remember was something like "Giving flowers to a friend will brighten a dull day." That's not fortune-telling; more like advice from the wise. Still, they are called "fortunes." Is this an even 'lighter' way than daily horoscopes to get people into omens/oracles/seers?
