My home town, Kearny, NJ, is known for soccer and fish and chips. LOL. The 1994 U.S. FIFA World Cup team featured three Kearny-born players: John Harkes, Tab Ramos, and Tony Meola. The fish and chips mention is because of the large immigration of Scots from the Glasgow area in the early 20th Century. The Clark O.N.T. Thread Company moved from Scotland to the United States in the late 19th Century and many Scots left their homeland for life in America, settling in Kearny.

Motion pictures, maybe. Off had, I know the original Benji movie was filmed here, and An American Story (Hallmark movie), the TV speculative history movie, The Trial of Lee Harvey Oswald. Some scenes from Dallas and Walker, Texas Ranger were done here. I watched one scene filmed around the old town square, but never found out what movie or show it was from [Does anyone know of such a photoplay with a town named Page, which was on the police cars in that shootout scene?]

Otherwise, we are the town mentioned in the Guiness Book of World Records for "the word's worst driver," who, one day in the late 1960's, had something like 3 wrecks and got 5 tickets in one day.

The traffic light is very interesting.

I took one of my driving students thur it - and he ran the red light - So I slammed on the brake - and then said - "thats right - you are color blind" he got very upset - then I explained the light to him - we went around the block and then I showed him the statued of the boy with a sling shot in his back pocket.....
