Mauritania is located in West Africa and is Senegal’s neighbor. In 2013, the Global Slavery Index granted Mauritania the dubious distinction of ranking it number one in the world for the prevalence of slavery there, indicating the extent of the tragedy. There is currently an estimated 300,000 to 500,000 chattel slaves in the country, believed to be the highest number in the world. All are black African, while their masters are Arabs and Berbers.

Well, the left in this country ignore the human rights abuses that are epidemic in this country - Mauritania outlawed slavery on paper in 1980 but it's still practiced.

Totally ridiculous that the UN elected them on the Human Rights Council VP just a few years ago. The only question is how much slavery is still going on over there, at least 100 million and up to 800 million people there (out of a total population of about 3.4M) are still enslaved, mostly darker-skinned black Moors and black Africans to lighter-skinned Moors. The college kids should be raising snip about THAT.

Maybe we should get John Boehner to invite their President to address Congress so that he can tell us.
