WHAT TO DO WITH BURDENS
Child of God, do not attempt to carry the weight of your burdens; they are too heavy for you to bear. May the Lord enable each of us to obey His Word and take them to our almighty Savior and leave them with Him. “Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and He shall sustain thee: He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.“ (Psalms 55:22).
“Burden“ means your lot in life, that which is given and that raises the question, who gives the burdens? The LORD, according to His wise, unerring wisdom, gives whatever burdens He deems best and we are specifically instructed as to what to do with them. Return the burdens to Him, casting or hurling them back upon the One Who gave them. Would you honor God in any time of trouble, trial or difficulty? In obedience to His Word and, as one writer said, “Pile them upon the shoulders of your Lord”, cast them upon the One Who sent them in the first place. He has promised to “sustain“ us, that is, uphold us; He faithfully measures the severity of the burden so that no burden will be too heavy. Note the promise: He Who is infinitely powerful and wise will never permit any of His burdened people to “be moved,” overthrown or destroyed by anything He gives us.
What is the remedy for relief of every burden of life? Throw each one upon the Lord. “Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you.“ (1 Peter 5:7). Remember, the LORD not only will bear the burden cast upon Him, but He has promised to carry you!
“Harken unto Me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, which borne by Me from the belly, which are carried from the womb: And even to your old age I am He; and even the hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you.“ (Isaiah 46:3-4)
