What Trump means when he uses the phrase Fake News

The Fake News is working overtime. Just reported that, despite the tremendous success we are having with the economy & all things else, 91% of the Network News about me is negative (Fake). Why do we work so hard in working with the media when it is corrupt? Take away credentials?

This is in reference to this report which is about negative news and does not assess how "fake" the news is.

Yep. I used to think that Reagan received worse press and sustained it longer, but no more. Hopefully, the effects of the tax cuts will be felt going forward to the midterms and the R's will do well in the elections.

In Reagan's era by the time the 1984 election rolled along it was impossible for the press to continue to be very negative because the economy was roaring. Hopefully the same thing will be true in 2020.
