What Version of the Bible do you read

What version of the Bible do you read or prefer? I think this should be interesting. Feel free to comment on what you voted for and why you prefer that version of the Bible.

I personally prefer the King James Version of the Bible because I believe it more accurately represents what God was trying to get across to us with out the "watered down" versions that many of the other translations have.

I also believe that the way some of the other versions translate the text it makes a lot of the content of the Bible loose some of it's intended meaning or change it altogether. I know that there has been the debate over which one is the best for many many years and surly this will continue forever.

I still hold true to the KJV. I have read some from some of the other versions just to kind of compare them to the KJV and after doing so am convinced that the KJV is the book for me.

I read many good English translations of the Bible including the KJV, NKJV, NIV, NASB, ASV, TNIV, NLTse, ESV, and HCSB.

You should not read one in particular to the exclusion of all others. Like TC, I think it's best to read a variety so that one doesn't become blind-sided to the phraseology of one in isolation.

I currently prefer the TNIV as a favorite. But I also read and appreciate the NLTse,HCSB,NET Bible,MLB and so on.

I think you left out a few significant versions in your poll so I marked other. Personally, I use the NASB (one of those other Bibles).

I mainly use the NASB. Its a formal literal translation. In printed form, when equivalence is used, the literal is always noted, very honest.

I like the way the NIV reads too. But I grew up with a King James so I still use it too.

Basically like this in this order:

NASB
NIV
KJV
NKJV
ESV

Then I have Greek and Hebrew texts also.

AJ - I'm a multi Bible person too with a couple of preferences.

I'm not looking to find one that agrees with me as THEY (sound translations) all say the same thing - just worded a tad differently. I agree with the Bible.

I voted for "Other". Currently I am reading the NT in 4 parallel English versions: Tyndale, the Great Bible, Geneva, and the Bishops' version. Of course, all of these predate the KJV. I don't have a personal preference, but I am prejudiced in favor of the KJV because I grew up on its' familiar text.

Do you just "believe" that the KJV is more accurate, or have you actually discovered through research that to be so? Do you think that the translations I'm reading are "watered down" versions?

I love my "watered down" ESV but also have for my study an NIV, KJV, NKJV and NASB. But for my regular quiet time and church, I use my ESV with extensive personal notes.

Really, I didn't notice. Having ACTUALLY READ at least 40 out of 66 books from an NASB I do not agree with your statement.

Having gone over the KJVO debate in great detail, I have looked into every change. I do not agree and I feel compelled to call you out on this one.

I think I only need one guess as to which version you prefer.

I prefer or use the KJV most of the time, so I put down KJV. I also read the ASV 1901 and the NASB some.
