I have reported your post as "questioning my beliefs"

We all question those who would believe the man-made false teaching of the "only"ists. No matter WHAT translation they erroneously claim to be the "only".

Since God did not say He would allow ANY English translation, the audacity to add to the Word of God and claim that ONLY "xyz" is the actual perfect, God-breathed Word is mind boggling.

You have faith in a man-made teaching? You will have it questioned, hopefully, by everyone on the BB.

(BTW, we've asked many times for any verse that includes "only" and "KJV" and "English". Since, of course, this is man-made nonsense, no verses to support it are forthcoming)

To the OP - I love the GET Real Bible (Griffin Expanded Translation). I memorized much from the AV (oxford revision, 1769) with obvious changes for modern grammar, so that would get my vote. I was saved with a church using the ASV1901, historically one of the most accurate translations. And use the Holman, ESV and NIV in much of my preaching since they use better Greek underlying texts.

I really like the NASB, but I would say that I have a top three for most of my reading and study. NASB, KJV, and NKJV. I also have other translations that I enjoy and reading or referring to. Everything from reading from a copy of the original 1611 KJV, to pulling out an old paraphrase like the original green colored Living Bible which I enjoy for a fresh perspective.

MEANWHILE, BACK AT THE RANCH...

I read several English versions, old and new for study, but primarily use the NKJV, KJV, NASV, & NIV.[/COLOR]

I read three different versions of the KJV (King James Version) each day for private and public devotions:

1. KJV1611 Edition (electronic & paper)
2. KJV1769 Family of editions (electronic & paper)
3. KJV1873 Edition (paper only)

Currently I am reading the NLT. Previously I used the NIV mostly, but the NLT, in my opinion, is just such a pleasure to read. All this from someone who, 40 years ago was KJVO. Wow, how things change!

Personally, I have done complete readings of 18 versions of the Bible, some several times. I have seen some of the most damned of doctrines come straight from the KJV, and have found the pure Gospel of Jesus in all of the Bibles I have read, including the KJV. Fact is, if you want to read in a smorgasboard, cut and paste fashion, you can "prove" heresy from any Bible, and if you are honestly seeking Jesus, you'll find Him from the same Bibles. Case in point, the L.D.S. church has been offering the KJV on the TV for years. A fine Bible, used for a most non biblical purpose. Does this make it a bad Bible. Perish the thought. I was raised on it and still love many of it's passages

My current choices are HCSB, NASB, in that order.

nasb is my preferred translation. This is the translation I use for preaching. nasb, Hcsb, kjv, nkjv are typically used in study, but niv and nlt are also useful at times. I try to compare at least 3 translations when i study, but have used 6 or more at times for clarification.

Interesting thing is the 2 previous pastors were rabid kjvo, but nobody has objected to my use of nasb. they even called my as pastor knowing that I prefer a "modern translation."

I use the ESV for my daily reading, but also reference NKJV, KJV and KJV 1611. I came to salvation and faith through reading the KJV and worship within a "KJV only" ministry, but accept that God's Word is effectively and truthfully expressed through many translations.

Blessings!

At home and church, I use the NASB and NKJV pretty equally. There are more study Bibles in NKJV than in NASB that I like, such as the Nelson Study Bible, which does not come as NASB.

When I'm online, I almost always use the NASB but I'll compare it with other versions - mainly NKJV, KJV, NIV, and NLT.

I also have a NET Bible but use its notes primarily as reference.

For traveling and when I'm speaking in churches and don't want to lug around a big Bible, I have 2 small Bibles, one is NASB and one is NIV. I use both, but the NIV has more notes and has print that is slightly easier to read, so I tend to us that one.

I use the NKJV for the most part, but enjoy the NASB as well. I am wanting to get an ESV, possibly an HCSB, as a "reading bible" for devotional use.

I consult a variety of versions. My most common versions are the NASB and the NIV, which I have together in a parallel Bible that I use in church. Lately I have been reading more out of the NRSV.
