just curious as to what edition, as i also had a 4th edition, but in Niv!

My first study Bible was the MacArthur NKJV. I also have one in the ESV (2007 text edition) since the church I was serving at the time preached from it. I still use them frequently and learn so much from them! My wife bought me the second edition NKJV last year when Nelson released it in premier leather and it is gorgeous.

From the selections I have read, it seems the notes are extended and more detailed in places. The font setting and size are also better IMO. Overall, the second edition seems to be very well done. Hopefully I will have a better answer for you when I finished going through it! I have not gotten through the NT yet. I use the Reformation Study Bible quite a bit too. The first edition I got in it was the New Geneva Study Bible in the NKJV.

Dake study bible (Charismatic Scofield). I started out Pentecostal Dispensationalist. Rumor has it He wrote this bible while doing time as a child molester.

Walmart men’s bible 1985 ... mostly scotch tape and elmers glue... then there’s my black new king James with the bigger print for the almost blind... also purchased at Wallfart.

More than sufficient for an ex catholic sinner cause I read it.

In 1969 I chose the Thompson Chain Reference KJV to became my main study Bible. Even though I could not agreed with all verses used in some of the chains , but the chain references were nontheless useful. I liked the chain refererences because the chains were kinda done like the Naves Topical Bible. I also like the idea of the Rainbow Bible, so I set up my own color code system. Red the blood of Christ. Blue the for the color of water for the references for the Holy Spirit. Green for references to eternal life. Orange to the second death. Purple for prayer(s) approaching the the throne of God. Brown for the Old testament verses qouted in the New Testament, both in the Old Testament and New Testament. Yellow for general references of interest or study. Today, I in a new Bible, I just use a pencil dot system. Or underline a word here or there only making my own marginal notes where my new Bible's cross reference lacks the reference(s). Today I will also use ink to mark out really bad cross references, typically Mark 16:16, Acts 2:38 for water in John 3:5.

That's exactly what I got at exactly the same age! It was a gift from my grandma & she was concerned I'd either not read the KJV or not be able to fully grasp it & give up, so enter the NIV Study Bible. My husband's mom flipped out the first time she realized I had it & not KJV.

My first was “The People’s Study Bible” edited by Harold Lindsell. The Bible text is The Living Bible. I don’t know whether or not this is exactly the same as the Lindsell Study Bible. It was also published in the KJV. This was given to me as a graduation present. Sadly, it would be many years before I ever really put it to use.

I haven’t really looked at this one in about 20 years. I have no interest is reading The Living Bible, but this Study Bible does have some good helps. I’ve been thinking of delving into it again. The book intros and some of the notes were very helpful in rebutting the liberalism I had been taught in my home church and in college.

That bible is THE bible for WoF, as his theology was cultic and not biblical!
