I don't swim, so I would prolly wear a huge wrap-around lifesaver suit.

What people wear on the average beach or at local public swimming pool doesn't trouble me. I have to walk down the pavement of the average city or town and face what women, in particular, expose of themselves there. Mine eyes are dim, I cannot see, I have not got me specs with me.........oh, what a song.

I'm surprised that no one is upset that Muslim culture has such an influence.

The fact that it's modest is beside the point; one does not have to wear what they say to be modest. A false dichotomy is here between skimpy suits and these Muslim style suits.

Those on this thread in the U.S., would you really be okay if swimming pools had Muslim swim times and required you to dress like this if you wanted to swim??



The more Muslims are accommodated like this, the more they will push for other accommodations. Prayer rugs provided in schools? Calls to prayer from mosques in your city?

Already we are seeing here increasing numbers of women covering their faces. Yesterday at Target, the car next to me parked and out got a man and his young son. The wife exited afterwards, a veil over her face up to her eyes. This is not that unusual to see here.

The recent Fox News Special on textbooks indicated that the Muslims, with less than 1% of the population, exercise an inordinate amount of control over the content of textbooks. This is political correctness run amuck.

Christians are denied freedom of speech while special rooms are set aside for Muslims to"pray"; wash stands are installed for them to wash their feet. If Christians do not take a stand we will have no place to stand.

If Jim's talking about the UK, then they were permitted, not forced - along with any other children whose parents for whatever reason objected to them taking part in Christian worship.

I never experienced or saw this although I was overseas most of my childhood. But in the schools in MD when we came back, there was no prayer and this was quite awhile ago (I am not saying when).

I do not think any prayer should be said aloud in school because there will be no end to the number of religions vying for a prayer.

Exactly. I am wondering if mainly people living on the 2 coasts and maybe some large Midwestern cities are seeing this. I don't know if most people in the U.S. in other areas realize the extent of this influence.

There's a fair amount of subjectivity on the toic of modesty. Modesty to me is going to mean something different than modesty to a person in, say, Papua New Gunea. But scripture demands modesty. So a believer should always dress in accordance with the standards of modesty in the culture or surroundings which s/he is in.

In regards to beach attire, again, the rules are different depending on the location. A woman in a bikini or a man in speedos won't necessarily be considered immodest in Hawaii, but it will probably be inappropriate in Alaska.

All that said, the person in the OP was wearing appropriate swim attire (that is, attire designed for swimming). So she should be allowed to wear such attire in a swim location.

The conclusions of the video are flawed. It failed to take into account that immigrants coming to a western world don't procreate at the same rate of their forefathers. Second generation immigrants typically reproduce at the same rate across the board, regardless of original immigrant culture.

Also, it fails to take into account coversion from one faith to another. If the video were accurate, there would be no christianity in China, where the population is at an all-time high. et, the fastest growing religion in China is Christianity.

In actuality, the world population of Christians increases by 69,000 every 24 hours, whereas the population of Muslims increases by 68,000 every 24 hours. This according to the World Christian Encyclopedia. According to the U.S. Center for World Mission, Christianity has a growth rate of 2.3% every 25 years, while the world populations itself has a growth rate of 2.2%. This means that, in the last 25 years, the increased the percentage of Christians from increased from 33.7% to 33.9%. The 2006 Christian World Database estimated that by number of new adherents, Christianity was the fastest growing religion in the world with 30,360,000 new adherents in 2006. This was followed by Islam with 23,920,000 and Hinduism with 13,224,000 estimated new adherents in the same period.

So, no matter how you slice it, the video in the link is a myth.
