Can someone truly be born again and not believe Jesus is the only way?
Can someone truly be born again and not believe Jesus is the only way?
Can someone truly be born again and not believe Jesus is the only way?
Another way to phrase this question, can a born anew believer hold bogus views? I believe the answer is yes. So the question devolves into would God credit the faith of someone who thought Jesus was not the only way to salvation? How could someone who is "all in" for Jesus believe Jesus was mistaken when He said He is the only way to the Father? Now if the person was simply ignorant of that teaching, that is one thing, but if they are shown the teaching and still reject it, then that is something else...Can someone truly be born again and not believe Jesus is the only way?
Is salvation left to a democratic vote? Can someone truly be born again and not believe Jesus is the only way?
There are some who believe the Trinity, that there are the three distinct Persons who are the one God, who also think that one can be a modelist and still be born again.Another way to phrase this question, can a born anew believer hold bogus views? Not sure what you are getting at...Is salvation left to a democratic vote?
I would say that depends on what their bogus view is. Do you think someone can be born again and deny that Jesus is God?Another way to phrase this question, can a born anew believer hold bogus views? In 1993 the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, voted by 400 to 300, that Jesus Christ was "not the only Way to God", as Jesus Himself clearly says in John 14:6. But to consider the "sincere" followers of the other "faiths", as also being "ways" to get to heaven!
Good question

If a person comes from a non-Bible-believing background, it is possible that he/she might start out with some "Less than a 110+%" concept. If she/he is a newly-born-again-believer who's never come from a truly Bible-believing environment, more than likely, just as a physically new-born child, that person will stumble over some concepts now and then....Problem I see is at least a two-fold issue: (1) If that person continually stays a "Babe in Christ," then he/she has got some issues than need to be worked out; and (2) Too often I've heard of "Grandparents in Christ" shutting off dealing with brand new believers. Yes, the Holy Spirit can lead that new-born in Jesus to develop somewhat by him- / her- self, but still it's incumbent on those who've "Been there...Done that" to help them grow in their Christian lives & be all that God would want them to be. Is it REALLY a miracle to see our modern generation(s) of newly-birthed Christians come up with some non-Biblical views on some things? Maybe we need to wipe off the dust on our own "mirrors" instead of just gripping about "these here wackos" and help Jesus's new babies mature. Did WE sometimes go off the deep end when WE were first adopted into our new families? Yep, I know I surely did, and..."This just in..." I'm still "Under Construction" myself! What is your position?
Hi Paul, I asked a simple question, and as of now have not received an answer. The Elders should question the babes to point toward areas needing more study. OTOH, the NT teaches of many scoffers asking loaded questions of Jesus, not to learn and grow, but to trap and disparage Jesus. Recall the words of Jesus, "How does it read to you?" On the specific issue of if people deny Jesus as God? No, they are absolutely not born again. What is your position?
I understand from where you're coming & do admit that conduct of unsaved scoffers do not help the situation, but in my own case I came from a very liberal religious "church" (?). Its pastor was a graduate of Harvard Div School, not exactly a bastion of Biblical truths. It was strictly a "Works-for-salvation" org. Actually to me it was more of a social club that every once in a while they might accidentally happen upon some vague element of truth. Consequently, I was almost 20 YO & far distant from that so-called "church" before I even heard the TRUE Gospel. That being said, even the church in which I first heard about one's need for salvation, most of her rather small membership were essentially retired people who'd fallen into an almost comatose state when it came to helping me to any great extent in my spiritual development. The fact that I also was in the Active Duty military as a low-ranking enlisted person assigned to a military training unit when 'Nam was really an issue didn't give me much of an opportunity for much "quiet time" to delve into much Biblical truth (12-14 hrs a day almost every day) + the fact that I was too poor to own my on transportation to my church which was probably 20 mi away from my crowded barracks didn't afford me any vast opportunities to grow as much as I desired. Not complaining mind you, just stating the facts as they were in my situation. I really wanted to grow in the Lord, but the lure of the country club's attractions didn't seem to be of any great help to me. Then when I was 1.5 YO in my new life & being transferred to Germany only to find that the only so-called Baptist military chaplains that were stationed anywhere near where my again-crowded barracks were ones who thought that their sermons only consisted of literary comments on the highlights of Hemmingway's religion didn't foster any great foundation for my personal development in the Lord. Again, I'm not complaining about where God was leading me at that stage of my new life in Christ....I could have just as easily been transferred to some unit in SEA where "foxhole religion" might have been my only option. The point that I was trying to make was that (& this was in the middle 1960s mind you) that supposedly "dedicated to edifying the new-born Christian that I was" in many cases seemed to be, shall we say, just a tad bit not universally a top-priority mandate for my own development as a new Christian. Thankfully, God was still putting me through the mill, & today I do know somewhat more than "Jesus loves me, this I know," but being enrolled in a self-help situation that I seemed to have been in my early years as one of His lambs was not always an easy task for me. Yet, looking back on what I came through I still contend that "God IS good ALL the time, & all the time God IS good."Hi Paul, I asked a simple question, and as of now have not received an answer. Intriguing thought, but we only know of Peter (and John) getting that close to the trial. Hadn't the others already scattered? "Curses! Foiled again!"… I know I am called to patiently witness, but I do think one of the other disciples should have told Peter to stop cussing.
