Seriously though, wouldn't Fox News Network be better off without her?
Why do you have to bash anyone?

Is life so incomplete unless you are ripping someone up?

Ive read her stuff, and some of her commentary I think is way over most people's head. She has a very acid like sense of humor, very sarcastic - and unless you know that going in - then most tend to resort to dumb blond jokes or that really creative one about how Ann Coulter is really a man. (Stupid)

Even more silly is the pretension to know a media personality personally that you can make comments much like that of A-pal. Gosh arent you the pot calling the kettle black!

Fox News could save a lot of money if they were to rid themselves of Ann Coulter. They could slap a blonde wig on Alan Colmes head and tell him to just go blah, blah, blah, etc. and no one would know the difference.

Perhaps either of you could tell us what you thought about what Ann said about the act of wishing someone a Merry Christman in New York (specifically, that to which she compared it). In case you have forgotten, it was the article entitled "Ann Coulter 2005," in the New York Observer and it's available via a google search. But beware, as the language might be considered to be extremely offensive. IMHO, it was bordering on blasphemous.

Don't get me wrong though, I am grateful: she was partly responsible for my shift from right to left........

I never heard that quote, but I almost puked when she said that the only thing Tim McVeigh did wrong was not blowing up the N.Y.T. building.

She says the first thing that pops into her head, and she is funny, so she creates controversy. I'm not going to defend her, but I am going to conyinue to listen to, and read her.

Well, if you do a google search, you will find it. If I remember correctly, the first link is a reproduction of the article.

I am glad I listened to her: she helped to wake me up.

Hope Labor Day is looking better for you than it was yesterday,

O.K., I read it. Mild compared to some stuff I've heard Garafalo and Franken say.

I said I won't defend her. But I do like her. You like Franken, even though he is pretty profane at times. If you keep a running tally, I bet you could come up with something to hold against just about anyone. Including Howard Dean, Al Sharpton, Abe Lincoln, Mother Theresa.....

Did you see what she compared it to?
Bear in mind we are talking about wishing someone a "Merry Christmas."

I have not personally heard Franken or Garafalo say anything quite that inflammatory.

Actually, have you ever visited Manhattan, and tried to be nice to the people you meet ?

Yes, I have. I am in the financial services industry, and have been to Manhattan (specifically Wall Street) many times.
How nice that Ann Coulter used "Merry Christmas" as another way of saying what she offered......

How is Labor Day looking for you now? I am headed back home to Knoxville, so my hikes will be at lower altitudes (Smoky Mountains). Looking forward to getting up in the mountains.

All the time.

However, customs vary and what passes for "nice" in Montana can be an irksome intrusion in an overcrowded, fast-paced city. Furthermore, how do you know if the people you were being "nice" to weren't out of towners themselves?

Tam,

You hit the nail right on the head - that is my strongest objection to her - she is very mean-spirited.

Daisy, I have been to more places than just NY and Montana. N.Y.C. is easily the unfriendliest place I have ever been.

Let me clarify.....

Boston can be very unfriendly, also.

Now to BIR....

If someone was going to say "#$&@ you" to me, but said Merry Christmas instead....

I fail to see that as a bad thing.

O/T...

Phyllis and I have moved our hiking plans to the north, we will hike to Crystal Lake instead. No fires, and it's at a higher elevation. It should be real nice.

Ever done any hiking in the Shenendoah ? I took my daughter up there a few years ago, for a 3 day hike, and we really had a great time. Beautiful place.

Ask yourself: what did she say in that article? What does that say to a lost world? Remember what she said after September 11th? I have never seen her profess to be a Christian, but if she has, she certainly seems to possess an angry faith.

[envy]Sounds like you are going to do some serious hiking.[/envy]

Sure, but my dream is to do a week-long hike up where you are. I have only been there in the winter - would like to see Big Sky Country when it is spring/summer, and looks like what I saw in that movie A River Runs Through It.

How old is your daughter? Was she up for a three-day hike? I don't have any children, but promised my newphews we would go up there some time. They are all under 12, so I don't think they would be up for 3 days.

Wishing God's Blessings on you and your family,
BiR

Hiking cool! No fires? Never fear I got the goods Bro Curtis. Check this out.
The Cat Stove. I modified mine by drilling 8 1/4" holes in the fire pot and 8 5/16 holes in the air chamber and gluing the bottom of another can to the bottom of the big can to seal the whole thing up with JB weld (regular stuff) I get a burn time of about 12 minutes at 2000 ft with 1 oz of denatured alcohol it'll hold a couple oz's if need be. We don't have mountains here but the hills sure are nice and the Fingerlakes trail is within walkin distance to my house.

Throwin in this link for some other ideas. I use a walmart grease pot and a pot cozy made from the same material as my cranial shield... reflectix.

You've just put your own foot in your mouth again yourself, ASLANSPAL, by extrapolating that one referenced Viet Nam war veteran, Bobby Muller, into many - even implying most - as if Coulter had venomously attacked us all and Muller represented and defended us all. That's not the truth!

Coulter was not putting down Viet Nam war veterans in the least! Her exact words directed to Muller were: "No wonder you guys lost." during a debate with Muller. He was making a point about the role that land mines played in the US casualties. He'd said, "In 90 percent of cases that U.S. soldiers got blown up - Ann, are you listening? - they were our own mines." which is not at all correct. She wasn't casting blame upon us but just engaging in the debate. Muller, on the other hand, was implying we basically were responsible for killing ourselves.

Muller, despite his sacrifice to our nation in time of war, has been a thorn in the side of most Viet Nam war veterans. He has a relatively small following among us.

With respect to Ann Coulter, I'm neither a fan nor a detractor and don't regularly read her column.
