Had they simply written in third person, or had their lawyers draw up all of their emails, there might have been no problem. :Wink

For example:

Raegan has lately felt a certain lack regarding the cafeteria menu. She would like to see more vegan fare offered. She would also like more varieties of herbal teas from which to choose, including her favorite, echinacea.

Regards,
Raegan

On the other hand, it is good to know the proper gender of someone, so that gossip about them may be kept grammatically correct. And it sounds so much more personal. :Wink

Who is addressing them in third person in emails?

No - its what the writer puts in his signature box.
The "reason" for that is if George wants to identify as a female
then people know to address him as Miss George - not Mr. George.

But since this is a Christian college - the "upstairs" does NOT want that happening.

If I had my druthers people who thought that men can turn into women and women can turn into men would be put into insane asylums, not just fired from jobs.

How can anybody with a functioning brain look at a bearded, masculine, tall, strong, man and think "Golly, that might be a woman trapped in a man's body!" without having a mental illness?

WHOA_AAAAAAAAAA

This is NOT a thread about people being Trans!!!

This is about (so called) "Straight" people using "my gender preference" in their signature blocks. so that others will know how to address the individual.
Normally, the name is sufficient to know the gender
If a persons name is George it is assumed he would be a man, thus no need to indicate his preferred pronoun be he/him.

But if the persons name is Chris or Tracy - they could be of either gender.

So Should a Christian college insist that on official correspondence that writers NOT use preferred pro-nouns?

It is a way to force compliance into the “pronoun wars”. If you put “pronoun preferences” in text messages you are being assimilated into a new way of thinking about gender.

I think the college had every right to fire the person. They failed to comply with the policy even after it was explained to them.

If their parents gave them an ambidextrous name, just be sure to thank them on Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.

BTW, I’ve had people on this board think I’m female saying “look lady…” and other things. I have never been offended. Amused, but not offended.

Never once did I feel the need to make a big deal out of it.

Though I did respond to one such statement by saying that I have known I’m a male since I was 4 years old and I thank God that my marriage to a woman is recognized by God and the government as legitimate.

peace to you

I'm wondering if some include written correspondence, business cards, ect???

Suppose my parents named me Chris Thomas Jones - and had always went by Chris - in this Day and age, I would probally start going by C. Tom Jones.....

Never a good thing to assume.... - as for me - normally - I dont care what you call me - dont call me late for supper

Never once did I feel the need to make a big deal out of it.
Winner! Methinks that is not a hill to die for

and before you were four, you thought.....:D

Of course. Who needs God’s peace more than a moderate/leaning conservative Christian living in New York State? :)

I’m suddenly reminded of Jonny Cash and “A boy named Sue” for some reason. Maybe someone could post a link to the song.

Difference? The dad in the sing named him “Sue” to make sure he was tough enough to survive without a father.

Now, parents are encouraging the name change and claiming the kids are “triggered” if they aren’t used.

I wish someone would rewrite the song…

“how do you do!!! My name is Sue!!!! And now, you have triggered me for not using my preferred pronouns!!!!”

peace to you

Well, I will guess….

Hummmm a big “C” Conservative ……..Hummmmm….

Are you a member of the Conservative Party of New York? Is that it?

ding - ding - ding
You are the big winner - you wind a box of noodles (when wet) to lash those on BB with too many points

But not only that - I am on the County and State Committees!

and now for extra points
NY is a fusion State - what does that mean!?

congrats on being on the county and state commissions.

Hummmmmm….. fusion?

I do not know. I’ll guess it has something to do with the way the ballots are counted. Maybe by a ranking system?

peace to you

I would post it but it was recorded during one of Johnny Cash's really rough times and there is some sailor talk on there.

In NY State, a candidate can run on more than one line.
Normally, the Conservative Party will endorse the Republicans
Normally, the Working Family party will endorse the Dems
The Independence Party (an actual party - note - not "independent!)
gives support to the D's an R's about 50-50
The Reformed Party - well they do whatever they do.

Bottom
line - votes for a certain candidate are added together - to determine the winner.

An interesting note: Ballot line is based on Party vote.
One year, the D Governor candidate recd more votes than the R
So the Dems were Row A for the next four years
BUT with the Conservative Party vote, the new governor was the R !

There have been candidates who have been on four - even 5 lines !

So what is so important about this.
The R's know that if they put up a liberal candidate - we will put up our own, and more than likely the D will win.
Thus, the R's know that they need to put up conservative candidates.
I see it is as a good check and balance.

At a debate, of which I participate Howie Hawkins (who later ran for POTUS on the Green party) stated - "fusion is confusion" but Howie has a right to be wrong!

So, the ballot lists all the different parties. A candidate may be listed with one, two or more party lists of candidates.

If repubs and Conservative Party nominates the same person, then the votes from both parties are counted toward the total?

interesting way of doing things. I guess it would force candidates to attempt to appeal to different parties for votes.

peace to you
