Well, HALLELUJAH!! A troll is a troll is a troll...you've just proved you are one!

John.3[19] And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

    Jude
[18] How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.

BUY AMERICAN! Keep American farmers & workers farming & working.

GOD, yes, I said, "GOD BLESS AMERICA." IN GOD WE TRUST. One nation UNDER GOD.

    </font>
Oh I just HAVE to reply to this.

If you take a look at where you are you'll see you're in the Current Events / News section in a thread about international trade. Because I don't want to debate theology, I came here, not to one of the threads discussing theology.

I don't want to debate theology so I posted where theology wasn't being debated and specifically said this is the ONLY place I'm going to post. Now, had I been posting in one of the parts of the forum where theology is being debated, or posted something about theology, you might have had a point. But I didn't, so you don't.

You really have some strange ideas about what makes a person a troll. Posting to a board that deals with theology, but only posting in a part that isn't about theology because one doesn't want to debate theology doesn't make on a troll. [IMG]

    </font>
. 2. n. An individual who chronically trolls in sense 1; regularly posts specious arguments, flames or personal attacks to a newsgroup, discussion list, or in email for no other purpose than to annoy someone or disrupt a discussion. Trolls are recognizable by the fact that they have no real interest in learning about the topic at hand - they simply want to utter flame bait. Like the ugly creatures they are named after, they exhibit no redeeming characteristics, and as such, they are recognized as a lower form of life on the net, as in, "Oh, ignore him, he's just a troll."

"Trolls are recognizable by the fact that they have no real interest in learning about the topic at hand..."

That describes at least 1/3 of the people here.

    what a surreal thread.

    what?

Do you honestly believe that people who present informed and reasonable arguments are trolling?

Is everyone who disagrees with you a troll?

the topic at hand being, of course, international trade and not theology.

    "international trade and not theology."

Interesting...people from UK and Canada are experts on how International Trade has benefitted American farmers & workers.

Whilst I do not claim to be an expert I fail to see what my geographical location has to do with this.

The figures are there for anyone to read are they not? Or does being American automatically make your interpretation more valid?

moreover - the point is that this discussion is about international trade and not theology - for you to construe someone not wishing to discuss theology in this thread as trolling is ridiulous - would you not agree?

Perhaps you should go back & re-read the thread. And the threads about trolls before you're so quick to jump on me. I realize you are relatively new here, but there was a lot of previous history before you came on board. Besides, I was not the one who hijacked this thread. It seems to me the poster did not like something I posted in another thread and signed up, jumped in this discussion for the sole purpose of bringing up what I posted in the other thread which didn't pertain to him at all and was taken out of context.

But I did err when I accused him of being a liberal. Rather, he has socialist views.

Case in point: A noted liberal, Michael Moore, (On Donahue MSNBC last night), and I are on the same page on this topic-----American jobs shipped overseas. He stood in front of the wrecking ball ruins that once was the Home office, largest assembly line in the world, Buick, Flint Michigan. All moved overseas. 20,000 American jobs gone. Not because car sales were down, but because of CORPORATE GREED, which he so aptly pointed out.

So you see, Friend, it would seem American liberals & conservatives find common ground on this issue and both the Democrat & Republican parties have sold Americans down the pike in interest of Big Business.

Yes, not being an American, US taxpayer would seem to slant how you stand on the American jobs issue and textbook economics. Yours would be a view from television. Ours would be from living it. :(

I have read this thread - and the numerous others where once you start to lose the argument you start screaming at people that they are trolling.

Not very impressive, you fail to address their arguments and attempt to attack their character.

Yes you were - you start a thread on international trade then start screaming troll when people with well thought out arguments attack your position.

    erm?

he wrote a few hundred words that pertain exactly to the topic at hand did he not? I notice that you have failed to answer any of his points - save for calling him a troll.

    what??

this is getting surreal - I have no idea what your definition of socialism (and if it is as broad as your definition of troll then the label is probably meaningless) but he, in no way, is advocating a socialist agenda - or do you think that Regan and Thatcher were socialists too?

that is too simplistic an analysis to be useful. It is not a conspiracy and politians have little to gain by throwing the electorate out of work.

ah right - because the same hasn't happened here?

the coal mines, steel mills and industry were not cruxified throughout the 1980's by a conservative administration fixated with an economic policy focused on corporate expansion and share holder returns?

I suggest that you do a little research into that small area outside of America where the other 3 and half billion people live - you must have heard of it - it is called 'the world'.

I think you need an attitude adjustment. You are seeking to incite & inflame.

I hate to say this, but he seems quite calm. I think perhaps you might want to take a deep breath and either drop this thread, or come back after you calm down a bit.

I don't see him being insulting or inciting. I do see him telling what he thinks is the truth, as calmly and politely as possible. I happen to agree with him. Perhaps you should consider things from his point of view.

    Can't hurt.

I am not trying rile you - I am trying to get you to understand that people with differing points of view are not trolling.

I am also trying to get you to understand that in a debate it is bad form to consistantly question the content of the character of your opponent without addressing the content of their argument.

    what an apt quote.

If you honestly believe that your behaviour in this thread is pearls before swine then I really am speechless.

So because I disagree with you I am a 'false prophet' (oh and 'swine' to boot!) - and you accuse me of being inflamatory!

I lived just outside Milwaukee when they were building the new stadium with the retractable roof. One of the biggest concerns was the delays that were caused on the contruction of the stadium because the steel, which came from Japan (Mistibishi to be exact) all of it had to be re-enforced right on the construction sight, because of sub-standard steel!

And now, people sit inside this stadium, under this sub-standard Japanese steel.
