When do we receive eternl salvation?

Salvation is a deliverance. Eternal salvation is being delivered from this present evil world. When reading the salvation scriptures, you must descide what you are being delivered from. Most salvation scriptures are pertaining to timely deliverances and not an eternal deliverance.

Amen to that which I bolded. God delivers the soul of a lost person from the clutches of satan, cleanses the soul with the blood, and they are made alive in Christ Jesus the Lord. This is what is referred to as the "wedding garment".
If you don't have the "wedding garment" on before you leave, you won't pick it up "at the door". You either have it on now, or you don't.

Matthew 22

1 And Jesus answered and spake unto them again by parables, and said,

2 The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son,

3 And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come.

4 Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage.

5 But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise:

6 And the remnant took his servants, and entreated them spitefully, and slew them.

7 But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city.

8 Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy.

9 Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage.

10 So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests.

11 And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment:

12 And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.

13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

14 For many are called, but few are chosen.

Here is an example where someone came to the king, and eventhough they were at the marriage supper, they did not have on the "wedding garment". And he was bound hand and foot and cast out into outer darkness. When we are saved, we get this "wedding garment", and have received eternal life.

Luke 15:11-22

11 And he said, A certain man had two sons:

12 And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.

13 And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.

14 And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.

15 And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.

16 And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.

17 And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!

18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,

19 And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.

20 And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

21 And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.

22 But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:

When the son came back, the father dressed him from head-to-toe. This right here is an example of the wedding garment.

Ephesians 6:13-18

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

That would be a timely salvation (deliverance). Rom 10 , Israel is a type of God's elect, God even changed Jacob's name to Israel, Gen 32:28. Paul is talking about children of God by saying that they had a "zeal" of God but not according to knowledge. Paul was giving them a warning that they should give up in trusting in their own righteousness and submitt themselves to the righteousness of God. If they would confess of this sin and repent that they could be saved (delivered from that sin). This is talking about a temely deliverance.

Timely or not the point is there is no Salvation with out our submission
to the righteousness of God. In other words; We must surrender our lives to God's ultimate control. This is the type of trusting faith one must have to be saved. He doesn't want part of our attention He wants all of it. God is desirous of a commitment from man. A free choice ( "because of our Love for Him" )commitment in our surrender to Him. Very much like a marriage commitment. As the bride of Christ we are betroth to Christ.

In Matt 22, it is talking about a marriage supper. Jesus is the husband of the church that he set up which is his bride. Those that do not profess their understanding of the truth of the gospel and are depending upon their own good works for eternal salvation, do not have on the wedding garment, which is the imputed righteousness of Christ and not their own righteousness, are not allowed to be a part of the church, his bride. Matt 7:13-14 is talking about the same things by the example of the two gates. Also Paul is warning Israel, the elect, about the same thing in Rom 10.

The account in Luke 15 is telling us that once we are predestined to be addopted as children by Christ that we will always be his child, even when we stray from him and lust after the things of the world. God rejoices over one of his sheep that come back to the fold. He will leave the 99 and seek to save the one sheep, which is a timely salvation, as the one lost in the world was already his sheep, child. Eph 6, God is telling his elect that they should put on the armor of God to battle satan. The same example is made in the scripture that says, "study to show yourselves approved, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
