I have been on and off here for seventeen years... I seen them come and I've seen them go... I seen them banned when they didn't behave themselves and sneak back in with a new handle, like they didn't think we knew:Sneaky... In all that time I never considered how the Baptist Board came to be and when it started... So would one of you brethren spill the beans and give us the lowdown... Brother Glen is asking nice!:Whistling

July 2000 by an emigre Hungarian Baptist CPA. He didn't know American Baptists were more diverse than Hungarians. Back when had membership numbers, I was like member 19.

So Squire are you the only charter member on here?... I know I joined a year later and since then there have been many changes on the board to those who have been here... Thanks for the information... Now I know... Brother Glen:)

Didn't this board completely "disappear" many years ago for a brief time?
I remember, '09 or so, I had to completely re-register as a NEW member after some hacking()?) problem. Don't hold me to this time frame tho', cause I am real UN-EFFICIENT at remembering dates. (I generally forget my birthday until my wife says something about it.):Whistling

I joined in 2000. The morning of September 11, 2001 I logged in with my dial-up to see what the latest on the BB was. Hadn't had the TV or radio on.

The AOL home page had a news item. "Second Tower Falls"

Three here have amassed 40k+ posts!

I Am Blessed 24 got to more than 44 thousand.
Revmitchell is at 43 thousand and counting.
Yeshua1 will soon surpass them, more than 42 thousand if you include his posts as his alternate identities JesusFan and DaChaser1

Joined March 20, 2001. My memory may be off, but I was thinking that there was an earlier version of the Baptist Board, and we had to rejoin or something?

May 2002. Found it by accident just surfing for all things Baptist. I had some experience on other boards before 2002 but this one is the best. I got my first computer in 1999--it had Windows 98 second edition with dial up.

Off topic (but since we are showing our age)

Does anyone remember saving files on cassette tapes with a tape recorder? The dial-up issue remained me.

Not me. I'm a low tech guy in a high tech world, as Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson says.

Been there, done that. I have also used paper punch tape with files on them and acoustical modems. Oh, and 8" and 5 1/4" floppy discs. Also a Kaypro portable computer.
