When You Fast?

I would like to know what you guys have experienced with fasting or the lack of encouraging it. I hear we are to pray for thus and such,but prayer and Fasting? I feel this is a neglected practice"principle"and hear "read the word,pray,tithe,fellowship,evangelize",ect. :type: But Fasting?... Not very much.

I am medically not able to go without food, and I have certain types of food requirements.
But I also believe there are others ways to fast other then no food at all, Daniel ate only vegetables, with no meat.
