Where did Christmas go?

Twas two months before Christmas
When all through our land,
Not a Christian was praying
Nor taking a stand.

Why the PC Police had taken away
The reason for Christmas - no one could say.

The children were told by their schools not to sing
About Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things.

It might hurt people's feelings, the teachers would say
December 25th is just a ' Holiday '.

Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit
Pushing folks down to the floor just to get it!

CDs from Madonna, an X BOX, an I-Pod
Something was changing, something quite odd!

Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanzaa
In hopes to sell books by Franken & Fonda.

As Targets were hanging their trees upside down
At Lowe's the word Christmas - was nowhere to be found.

At K-Mart and Staples and Penny's and Sears
You won't hear the word Christmas; it won't touch your ears.

Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-is-ty
Are words that were used to intimidate me.

Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen
At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter - To eliminate Jesus, was all public matter.

And we spoke not a word, as they took away our faith
Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace

The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded
The reason for the season, stopped before it started.

So as you celebrate 'Winter Break' under your 'Dream Tree'
Sipping your Starbucks, listen to me.

Choose your words carefully, choose what you say
Shout MERRY CHRISTMAS, not Happy Holiday !

Please, all Christians join together and
wish everyone you meet:
A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Ne'er forget that Christ is The Reason for the Christ-mas Season!

It is my understanding that Protestant Christians especially of the Baptist flavor did not celebrate Xmas much before the late 1800's. It was a religious conviction thing. My understanding is that C H Spurgeon hated the Holidays since it was essentially synonymous with the Roman Church!

Yes, it only takes about 5 minutes of research to realize that Christmas wasn't about Christ, and that there is no way he could have been born in December. But for those who cry about it being about Christ, they will likely deny this.

Will I say 'Merry Christmas?' I sure will, how dare anyone tell me what I am allowed to say.

One thing that really bothers me is having the stores open on Thanksgiving. The true meaning of Black Friday is being trampled on.

Xmas??????????

Short for Christmas

Early Christians used the X to represent Christ all of the time. In fact, they did it to minimize persecution at times

In Greek:

X=the letter Chi (it is pronounced Ki) which is the first letter in Christ.

In Greek, Christ is written: Xpistos

Yep...guess you are right...all these stores wiped the word Christmas out of their vocabulary.

Here's another little test...go to lowes.com and search for Kwanzaa. 4 results, nothing to do with Kwanzaa. Now search for Christmas. Wow...I thought retailers were promoting Kwanzaa instead of Christmas?

Why defend Christmas? Is Christmas a Holy Day prescribed by the Bible? Your priorities are misplaced. Christ and the gospel should be proclaimed -not a secular holiday (even if a minority attach religious significance to it).

When you say "defend Christmas" do you mean the birthday of Christ or the Santa oriented consumer frenzy?

We can't do anything about it. The God of this age has blinded them.

Romans 1 would support your convictions on this, and I tend to agree with you. He has given them over to their own follies! And it is apparent some on this board are in that crowd, "Given over to their own professions of intellectual understanding!"
