Based on what you have studied on on them or if you have lived through them, which decades were your favorites? I believe that a great decade come once every 30 years. My favorite decades were the 1920's, the 1950's, & the 1980's (mostly the 80's).

Hmm,once every 30 years huh? That would work out to 3.33 times per century.But then we'd be stuck with a partial decade -- that .33%.

In terms of just one aspect -- popular music -- there has been an acceleration of worsening "music".I grew up in the 50's,60's and early 70's.Today's pop music scene, whether American or Korean is rather abysmal.Doesn't any "Pop Artist" know how to actually sing?They need to review real music from the past.It's sad to see how pathetically bad these "artists" of today are.Some of these "professionals" wouldn't be able to really sing if their lives depended upon it.

The above is a generality -- there are always exceptions to the rule.

The Victorian era and the 1940's really interest me. I like studying the clothing and furniture and way of life back then.

In the 20's you had prohibition and the mudering gangs; the 30's brought us the starvation years; the 40's, more starvation and a vicious war; the 50's was great after Korean War to start the first 3 years; the 60's we had the battle for integration, but the world was moderating; the downgrade of society continued to the present.

I still choose the 50's as being the most productive years, both industrially and socially. The gospel church grew most in the 50's and were basically solid theologically.

Musically, I liked the 40's, even during the war years. We found joy despite the falling bombs, and people seemed to be more interested in each other, and not for monetary gain.

Someone once said, wake up each morning with a smile and you can't go wrong all day. The mental attitude is set in advance.

Rippon is quite correct on the singing. Back then, they sang and the band played on. To-day, the band bangs on and people seem to open their mouths to sing.

I have just had a fascination with the roaring 20's. Based on what I have studied, it seemed like most everyone was prospering during that time until the stock market crashed in 1929. Or if they weren't prospering, they at least lived like they were.

What I like about the 1950's the most was family values really seemed to be in place. Plus, I also thought the way of life in the 1950's was simple. I thought the fashion in those days were also kind of cool. If I lived in the 50's, I would have to be a greaser. They seemed rebellious, but respectable. I wonder what a sock hop would have been like.

The 80's was my most favorite decade. Ronald Reagan was president. The music was just fantastic. The TV shows were awesome too. I really liked The A-Team, Airwolf, Knight Rider, & The Dukes of Hazzard. I had a lot of fond memories in the 80's.

My least favorite decades would have to be the 1930's & the 1960's. The 30's because of the Great Depression & Franklin D. Roosevelt. The 60's because of the cultural movement. Rock 'N' Roll music was okay during that time. Credance Clearwater Revival (A.K.A. CCR) is my favorite band from that era. The worst things about the 1960's were the hippies, Woodstock, & the Vietnam War.

I'm sort of neutral on the 1970's. On one hand Rock 'N' Roll music was was coming along. Even the main stream music of that time too. Alice Cooper & Foreigner were my favorites. The TV shows & movies of that era were also cool (Starsky & Hutch, Wonder Woman, Dirty Harry, & Incredible Hulk). On the other hand I didn't care for the fashion. Bell bottoms, leisure suits, wearing the shirt collar on the outside of the jacket, & the hair styles were just aweful.

I can't think of any time I've enjoyed all that much, and I have no desire to go back to a time without the modern conveniences we have today. I'm looking forward to the time I will no longer be here on this sin-cursed, hate-filled world that is trying so hard to deny the existence of God, and trying even harder to make evil appear good and good to appear evil. "Even so, come, Lord Jesus."

I chose the ones prior to the 1920's......mainly because I'm a history buff and enjoy reading about the early 1800's.
