Now, having said all that, let me be clear that I am not saying we can't use commentaries and books and articles and audio/video recordings. But there is no course, no method, other than to share the truth of God's Word and wait on the Holy Spirit to regenerate the elect and give them a new heart, so that they come to understand that their sin was imputed to Christ and Christ's righteousness was imputed to them.

I agree whole heartedly and since you were in the same area in post #12 Ken I would like to add this from his second... Brother Glen:)

2 Timothy 2:1 Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

2:2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

Hmmm. I wonder what course Christ used? Oh, that's right, the Scriptures.

Luke 24:27 And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.

Hmmm. I wonder what course Philip used? Oh, that's right, the Scriptures.

Acts 8:35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning at this Scripture, preached Jesus to him.
Paul quotes scripture approximately 70 times in his letter to the Romans.

We don't have a course, per se, but we have ministries. Our church is located downtown Augusta and there is a fairly large homeless population. So there is an outreach to the homeless. We also have outreaches to colleges and high schools (and middle schools) in the area. There are other ministries as well (senior, prison ministry, etc.).

Soul-winning? All that God gave to Christ will come to him. Have you ever noticed how the Apostles perceived that people had faith to be healed before spending time on them? Salvation is no different.

Preach to every creature? Man-made schemes and rock groups only pack the churches with tares. Simply preach the kingdom of God as Jesus did, and include His death, burial, and resurrection for our sins, followed with repentance and baptism by immersion in water in His name, He takes care of the inside.

Christianity Explored is excellent. My church has used it for some time and God has been gracious to save several folk who have attended it.

1 Samuel 16:7 But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.

The heart HE ALONE has changed for his service!

1 Corinthians 1:27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

1:28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:

1:29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.

Serious question

how many people have come up to you in life and

a. Given you a tract?

b. Asked if you were a believer?

c. Attempted to just openly share the Gospel w you?

d. Asked you a question to provoke a spiritual conversation?

I’ll hang up, I am excited to hear your responses!!

thanks for your answers
A few hundred at least.

I'm surprised by how many people are opposed to using a bible study for evangelism.

I agree. But what has this to do with sharing the gospel with them?
If you were to share the gospel using the Word in a Bible study. It would take a long time. If you understand the gospel of the Kingdom, you would summarize it verbally as did Peter at Pentecost. Peter summarised this and added the new aspects of Christ's death, burial, and resurrection to it. As did Paul.

My church offers the Christianity Explored course to those who respond positively to our door-to-door visitation or who come to the church of their own accord, who we suspect may not fully understand the Gospel and/or may not be born again.
A small group format gives time and opportunity for discussion and questions, and watching a DVD is (sadly) more amenable to many people today than listening to a sermon.
It is perfectly possible to devise and present one's own 'course' but we have found C.E. to be both biblical (it is simply a series of studies in Mark's Gospel) and attractive to seekers.
