"english language/grammar changed enoughfh to even warrent a revision!"

You better revise your spelling among other things before trying to make a point about the NIV's English.

that article though was from one of the supporters for the 2011, so cannot accuse me of using "biased source!"

Evaluating the New International Version 2011
An in-depth look at the updated translation
Rodney J. Decker September 2, 2011

Here is a snip from Dr. Decker's article:

"There are far more idiomatic, functional equivalents in the ESV than most people would ever suspect based on the popular perception of this 'essentially literal' translation."

Just your lies and slander.

Guess there must be a lot of us here on the Board though doing that on the Niv 2011, as seems many here also believ with me the revision was better left undone, and just better to have stuck wih the 1984 edition!

You are quite uninformed.

Rippon, you unchristian like behavior toward those who disagree with you is reprehensible! I will read whatever version I want to regardless of what you think. I don't know why you are so obsessed with the NIV like you are, but no KJVO is any more overboard than you.

As to the question, I use both. I have a leather 1984 NIV Study Bible, which I like. Unfortunately, on my Kindle the NIV Study Bible is only available in the 2011 NIV, so I rarely use it. My favorite overall is the NKJV which I think is superior to either of the NIVs.

Have I forbidden the reading of translations other than the NIV! LOL!

I expressed the opinion that the NIV in its updated form is superior to that of the 84 edition. The Y-man spouts but rarely answers questions. He doesn't actually read what he complains about.

Unfortunately, on my Kindle the NIV Study Bible is only available in the 2011 NIV, so I rarely use it.

What's the matter? Is it too Calvinistic for you Robert?

Just your lies and slander.
Folks,
This thread is a perfect example of one poster demeaning about one dozen posters at once. And everyone takes the bait. The post inflames a person, and they respond. And Drippon lobs one back, so the circle continues.

When one has an obnoxious person on the TV or radio making a speech, the best thing to do is turn the off button. The off button even shuts up Rush Limbaugh.

Drippon is here only to destroy civil discussions, it does not matter what subject. If it means belittling those who read the KJV, then that is what he does. If it means defending a murderer to cause a stir, that is what he does.

The NIV, KJ, ASV, NKJ, etc are all good. They all tell the story about salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. A person who calls others liars, slanderers, false witnesses, etc is usually just what he accuses others of being. Look at his posts, never one thing good to say about anyone. Use the off switch and quit feeding it. There is no evidence of even a trace of fruits of the Spirit.

No, that's not it. I just don't like it as well as the 1984, but like I said, I generally read the NLT and use the NKJV for study. It's just my preference.

MANY here and in the church have felt same way concerning the Niv, better wa the 1984 edition!

And i also like the NKJV, along with the Nasb...

Funny, I never saw a bible aversion as either calvinistic or not, just if it was a good one or not!
