Our church cooperates with the Baptist General Convention of Texas, Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and Southern Baptist Convention. Hopefully the SBC cooperation will eventually come to an end. Right now they get about 10% of our total missions giving.

This is a fellowship forum, not a debate forum. There is no need for snide comments.

I'm with you on the SBC. It's sad to see how far it's gone from its roots.

The OP was a simple question: What kind of Baptist are you?

This is a fellowship forum, not a debate forum. If you want to argue about the convention, please do so elsewhere.

Thank you.

Southern Baptist - and probably not a very good one.

We actually have a "Plymouth Brethren" background, but in 1994 moved into an area where the local church that was closest to our beliefs was a Southern Baptist church.

Our beliefs on church polity make us somewhat frustrating to them at times, but they put up with us. At least they have so far.

I have always been an Independent Fundamental NORTHERN Baptist, which is why I don't fit into southern Baptist churches.

I grew up SBC and am still a member of an SBC church, but when asked I say "baptist". The lower case "b" is intentional.
