May I interject a question into the discussion?
Why does it matter concerning dispensationalism?
The reason I ask is this: Christ is coming again, bodily, to redeem His Church and to "judge the quick and the dead!"
The ways, the means, the times cannot be known, but the "seasons" can be discerned. I would like to see a discussion on "Why it matters?" Seems to me if we employed Al Mohler's "Theological Triage," most of the discussions of Dispensationalism would go away, instead of the elevation secondary or tertiary issues to the level of the Gospel itself.
Just my thoughts and I know it will make some angry. Because some use dispensationalism as a touchstone of orthodoxy. And for this I am sad.

Let me ask one question and see how you feel about it. Will Christ return twice, once in the air for His bride the church and once to conquer the gentile nations and set up His kingdom for 1000 years? What does scripture show?
My Dear Brother,
I am sorry if I have offended you, especially if you have taken the above questions personally. It seems that many of the dispensationalists that I know or have known take the whole "rapture question" and "the chain of events" around Christ's return so very, very personally if you disagree with them in the slightest way.
Whereas, I try not to concern myself with His return. Only that I want "to watch and pray" that I may be found faithful when he returns. I am not concerned with the mechanics as much as I am with the Gospel that gets us all "in the Kingdom;" and then personally living out that Gospel.
It seems as if you and I may suffer from the same malady? We have brought our theology to the text and have allowed it to color or flavor our exegesis. And I am not sure "how I feel" really matters, does it?
I confess this on my own behalf. I cannot confess it, however, for you.
I apologize if I have touched a sensitive nerve in any way. I am a doctor, but not the kind that can treat a sensitive nerve from let's say an out of joint tooth.

Nearly four years ago, Baptist Press said nearly all Southern Baptist colleges and seminaries teach dispensationalism of one sort or another.I know this is a post to a very old thread, but I'm new here. Calvary Theological Seminary www.calvary.edu lists as one of its distinctives Normative Dispensationalism. Calvary is a non-denominational Seminary. Statement of faith can be found on website.
