Confederacy and Johnny Reb
That "Cotton Pickin'" flag
Southern Ownership of slaves

Sure, I found myself participating--with a post or two---but clear to see that I can't see the point of argument.

Five threads all lead to the same ceptic tank!

This doesn't quite apply but I couldn't resist.

Things we might try to address the dead horse problem.

1. Threaten the horse with termination.
2. Change riders.
3. Appoint a committee to study the horse.
4. Re-classify the horse as “living impaired”.
5. Arrange site visits to see how others ride dead horses.
6. Hire an outside contractor to advise on riding dead horses.
7. Harness two or more dead horses together to improve performance.
8. Hire a lighter rider to improve performance.
9. Consider the savings, dead horses eat less, improving the bottom line.

And #10 on the list: Make the horse a manager.

The Civil War is over and we can't change history, no matter how much we talk or argue about it.

The Civil War (Or the War of Northern Aggression, Or the War of Southern Rebellion, etc.), is most definitely NOT over.

1. I spent the last two years teaching in an inner-city high school with a majority of African-American students--it isn't over for them, believe me.

2. I now teach in a mostly white rural county school--a significant percentage of my students wear clothing with rebel flags on most days--it isn't over for them.

3. Dr. Bob and thousands of others are active renactors--it isn't over for them.

I am going to start another thread, addressing a very present aspect of the controversy--slave reparations.

If anyone thinks that the problem is the Civil War within itself or attitudes about things such as the Civil War they are mislead.

The ongoing debate is based in do we believe the scriptures as they are written. This is a very relevant and alive issue. Seeing as how many (clearly evidenced from the debate and how it has ballooned out of it's original parameters) have tried to reason the scriptures to make them more politically correct or socially acceptable.

And the fact that the point of this thread is to stop the debate and another wants everyone to just come along and get along tells me that the problem is still there and many won't address it for what it really is.

Either you believe what the Bible says about slavery and masters or you don't. It's that simple.

Granted we don't live in a perfect world. Noone has tried to portray as such but we do have a perfect example and guide. The Bible. As a believer, a born again child of God we have to take God at his word and strive to live by it so that our lives would be acceptable and useful.

Despite what wicked men have done in the past and continue to do now and will continue to do till the very end God's standard still exists and we are to hold to it no matter what anyone else has done or said even if we don't like it or it upsets us or makes us mad, or causes us to suffer even wrongfully so etc.

This has nothing to do with believing or not believng what the Bible said about slavery and masters or any of it at all. The fact is everyone is tired of 5 or 6 threads on the same subject about the Civil War.

I agree Sherrie, it's too much, too many threads about the same topic. Whenever I come into the BB I know I probably don't want to come to this forum because civil war and slavery are the only topics going.

For Civil War buffs like me, there can NEVER be enough threads. But certainly would like to move them all from General Baptist into something else.

Im my business, we would contract with an outsourcing company who was much more efficient and was better at beating dead horses so we could concentrate on what we are good at, which come to think of it, is beating dead horses.

Anything with roots in the war of northern aggression has to be important enough to talk about though
