White House: Daschle Had 'Tax Issues,' Shouldn't Bar His Cabinet Confirmation

I don't admire hypocrites, at all. That would include you. Someone who would demand the rich pay more taxes, except in the case of democrat lawmakers, is a hypocryte. You may report me if you want, but you are a hypocrite.

Let me quote yer libby hero, Ted (hic) Kennedy...

"Do we operate under a system of equal justice under law?
Or is there one system for the average citizen and another for the high and mighty?"

There has certainly been a different system of justice for the Kennedy's than us common folks. In fact there is a different system of justice in DC for Republicans than democrats.

And why is it that Daschle is not paying interest and penalties on these taxes?

I say him on the news this morning saying that he is sorry that he did not know that "borrowing a car from a personal friend" is income.

One of those apoliogies without an admission of guilt...

...he's so innocent. :saint:

Obama is approving tax fraud, and puting tax cheats, people who've proven they are attempting to steal from the tax payers, in major positions in the US governement. Now you gotta wonder why.

It seems anyone who voted for Palin was also approving a tax cheat...

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/story/2009/02/18/ST2009021803325.html

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) owes income taxes on nearly $17,000 paid to her as travel reimbursements when she spent nights in her Wasilla residence, according to a state legal opinion that the payments were not legitimate business expenses, a state official said yesterday.

Like I said, I don't think tax problems are limited to Democrats...

Sad to see your lack of honesty on this:

The state this week reversed a policy that had treated the payments as legitimate business expenses under the Internal Revenue Code, said state administrator Annette Kreitzer. Payments to employees charging "per diem" expenses to stay in their own homes will be treated as income subject to taxes, Kreitzer said, and the state will update the employees' W-2 forms.

Not the same thing as the failed democratic nominees.

Lack of honesty in taxes and other things is a common trait among the libs.

LB presented this story to be equal to the tax problems the Dems have had. They are not even remotely close. It is possible he did not read the whole story but only the first paragraph.

I see. Because you when shown to leap before you look you decide to deflect by changing the subject.

No one asked you to pick up this old thread and attempt to deflect from Daschle's ethical problems by trying to drag Palin into it without the benefit of actually reading the article.

You must have been so excited to slander Palin that you couldn't even bother to read the article.

Just man up and walk away.

LB admitted he was wrong. Let him go on that one.

However, his posting a list of the most corrupt congressmen is hardly better. We don't know anything about this source. It should be viewed with extreme skepticism most likely. IT is another lame attempt to avoid the real issues.

I looked through the reasons the source is claiming corruption. It claims McConnell is corrupt because of earmarks. Equivocating that to dodging taxes is a failed comparison.

I think both are robbing the taxpayers...

Really? Quite contrary to the earmark spending bill you support.

Contrary to the GOP attacks, there is no earmarks in this bill. All we hear is accusations but no one can specifically point out the earmarks...

Just stop. money for a mouse is an earmark. That is just the beginning of it. The whole thing is one big earmark.

You see, that is the problem. That is just another GOP twisting of facts and shows how their simple minds are struggling to find real pork in the bill.

The truth is the $30 million is the total amount that the California Coastal Conservancy, a state agency, recommended more than a month ago to numerous federal agencies, looking for lists of "shovel ready" projects as part of the stimulus bill planning. This venture includes five major ongoing wetlands restoration projects totaling nearly 4,000 acres, of which the "mouse" concern is a very small part.

The projects, which range from Napa County to Silicon Valley, involve moving levees, creating islands and converting former industrial salt ponds back to marshes. Each could begin by year's end and would benefit dozens of species, including salmon, steelhead trout, ducks, egrets, and yes, the endangered mouse, Ritchie said.

The work also would provide increased flood protection to homes and businesses around San Francisco Bay, he said. In 2003, the Bush administration endorsed and helped fund the largest of the projects, the purchase of former Cargill salt ponds for wetlands restoration.

Trouble is, the facts were mostly wrong. But the lightning speed of Internet news enabled it to take on urban legend stature within hours.

The tale began Wednesday, when Michael Steel, a spokesman for House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, sent an e-mail to reporters and political leaders that noted Republican staff members have been asking federal agencies how they would spend the stimulus money.

Even if the stimulus passes, there's no guarantee the projects will get the money, since they're not named in the bill. That will be up to the Army Corps of Engineers, which does everything from harbor dredging to building dams to restoring wetlands.

You see, you guys don't want to know the truth, you are only interested in finding fault and pointing fingers at the people who are at least trying to get us out of this jam. If there were legitimate pork, I don't think Boehner would have to stretch the truth like this.

No matter how many different ways you twist words it is what it is. Earmarks from page 1 to the last page
