Whitehouse threatens Woodward

WOLF BLITZER, CNN: You're used to this kind of stuff, but share with our viewers what's going on between you and the White House.

BOB WOODWARD: Well, they're not happy at all and some people kind of, you know, said, look, 'we don't see eye to eye on this.' They never really said, though, afterwards, they've said that this is factually wrong, and they -- and it was said to me in an e-mail by a top --

BLITZER: What was said?

WOODWARD: It was said very clearly, you will regret doing this.

BLITZER: Who sent that e-mail to you?

WOODWARD: Well, I'm not going to say.

BLITZER: Was it a senior person at the White House?

WOODWARD: A very senior person. And just as a matter -- I mean, it makes me very uncomfortable to have the White House telling reporters, 'you're going to regret doing something that you believe in, and even though we don't look at it that way, you do look at it that way.' I think if Barack Obama knew that was part of the communication's strategy, let's hope it's not a strategy, that it's a tactic that somebody's employed, and said, 'Look, we don't go around trying to say to reporters, if you, in an honest way, present something we don't like, that, you know, you're going to regret this.' It's Mickey Mouse. (The Situation Room, February 27, 2013)

And some people around here think it is over the top to mention Breitbart's mysterious death and one of the coroners on the case who died mysteriously, as well as others, who were political foes of obama.

How about Justice Roberts - was he threatened in some way?

How about Senators and Congressmen - how many of them have been threatened?

And those mysterious deaths surrounding the 2008 election--people who were planning to vote for Hillary.

These people in power are wicked. Yet, this is what "some" Americans wanted and no matter how he got back in, here we are.

Bob Woodward was smart to broadcast it instead of cowering in fear. Now maybe the MSM will wake up.

No question in my mind. I am of the opinion that Clinton's injuries while Sec. of State were at the hands of Obama's goons.

Not climbing on board the conspiracy train, but Woodard doesn't seem to be the kind to go quietly into the night, you know with the whole Watergate thing to his credit.

If you do a bit of research you will find that someone in every administration has threatened some reporter in one way or another. Nothing new about this.

Let's see the research.

Remember Bush's, "Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists."

That was not just a threat against reporters, but every citizen in the nation. Remember the power of using secret courts, the ability to arrest without warrants, etc. that Bush received as a result of his Patriot Act. The current brouhaha is nothing compared to that threat.

I should not be surprised that people are not interested enough to do their own research. I do have a busy day coming up. If I have a few minutes I will consider your request.

What's with all the cryptic speak from Woodward? Somebody in the White House (hint, hint a member of the Senior Staff---Chief of Staff, Denis McDonough, or Valerie Jarrett, or Rob Nabors, or Valerie Mastromonaco, or Dan Pfeiffer) threatened you and you got the email, then expose that person and let the nation see how what they thought was for their good may not quite be what they are about to get.

But maybe not exposing the person buys him favor with the administration.

Oh, please. You made the statement that a little research would show similar threats; you made the claim, so it's your responsibility to prove it.

Then you use a statement publicly made to other countries; and executive orders and laws that are publicly well-known (and both of which I've never liked and publicly spoken out against on this website).

Let's see your research that proves a president or someone in his administration threatened a reporter's first amendment rights, since that is the topic of this thread.

What we really need to understand in this country is that if they threaten one citizen with repercussions when exercising first A. rights, they are threatening us all. It's coming like a freight train out of control. My first Pastor said 30 years ago that freedom of speech and freedom to preach against sin would be threatened in the pulpit in America one of these days. He could see it coming then. I thought he was being paranoid.

He can't do it.

He can't do it.

Actually, he could -- but in doing so, he'll have to compare Obama and his administration to some ugly past figures, some of them Republicans...and we wouldn't want to say that Obama is like a Republican, now would we?
