Who are our modern Nicolaitians?

Easy Believism subverts the gospel by teaching it is ok not to strive to follow Christ even in the face of adversity. Thus it represents modern day Nicolaitians.
Your accussion without Biblical support.

Matthew 11:29-30, Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

1 John 5:1, Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.

Matthew 11:29-30, Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Both those verses are non-germane to the actual issue. Instead, discuss Matthew 7, and those who professed belief, and Matthew 13 and those who professed belief, such as soils, #2 and 3.

But, because I am "apt to teach" and you have posted the "My yoke is easy" translation at least twice, let us discuss it.

The Greek word translated in the KJV as "easy" is "Chrestos" (G5543). It appears about 7 times in the NT, but is only translated as "easy" once in the KJV. The actual idea is usefulness, as in "My yoke is beneficial."

But in order to discern almost all English translations miss the message, you have to study which is NOT easy.
Persecution is not easy. Sticking with Christ in adversity is not easy. Unfaithfulness opposes faithfulness, but unfaithfulness is easy.

Now let us turn to 1 John 5:1:
Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves the born of Him. Everyone who sacrificially loves the Father also sacrificially loves their siblings in Christ. No one should claim sacrificing to benefit others is easy, but it is beneficial.

Who decides who actually believes? God does! Only when God credits a person's faith as righteousness, does He transfer the person into Christ spiritually. That is why John 3:16 says everyone believing "into" Him, shall not perish.

I do not know the order of the names listed in the Book of Martyrs but I expect Jesus might be first or foremost, and others might be found such as Peter, Paul, Steven, and on down through time. I expect Charlie Kirk could be included. The question we must ask is do we really think any of them were advocates of Easy Believism.

Yes, the use of deception might increase the number of people persuaded to say a prayer or walk an aisle. But God knows the heart and He decides who actually believes in and is devoted to Christ.

We are to stand firm in the grace of God, and not go with the flow and be blown about by various doctrines such as Easy Believism.
