A good time in Worship followed by a good time in the Word makes for an excellent Sunday. The most two important figures in a church...

1. The Senior Pastor
2. The Worship Director"

The first sentence could be interpreted to mean that "time in the Word" is NOT worship.
1) I do agree that the Senior pastor is one of the most important figures in the Church.
2) The "Worship Director" (Whom I believe you mean to be the Song director) IS NOT one of the most important.
I would say the Elders and Deacons are more important.

Singing can be great - but the Preaching of the Word is the most import part of worship.
Yes, the offering, announcements, taking communion, ect are all part - but our emphasis should be on the Word!

If the worship director is not a man, she is not in charge of anything.

In contrast to this pitting of ministers against one another...

Salty, your SBC 2026 Pastors' Conference will be focused on churches' entire leadership teams working TOGETHER (senior pastors, worship directors, discipleship directors, youth directors, kids directors).

Baptist Press

"The 2026 SBC Pastors’ Conference aims to feature events for every member of a church leadership team. Conference President Aaron Burgner provided details....he hopes entire groups of church leaders will plan to attend the conference together."

"'We can’t wait to see how God will use the 2026 Pastors’ Conference to encourage and equip pastors and leaders as we serve together for the glory of God,' Burgner said."

2026 SBC Pastors' Conference

"At the Pastors' Conference this coming year, we wanted to do something a little different, and try our best to include everyone on your ministry team."

"The 2026 SBC Pastors’ Conference will feature four specifically designed micro-conferences [Worship, Discipleship, Students, KidMin]....Whether you are a senior pastor or specialize in discipleship, worship, students or kids ministry, there is something for you. So bring your staff team TOGETHER for a time of equipping and encouragement for everyone."

The point I am making is that by referring to the Music director as the Worship director is inappropriate.
Worship is the ENTIRE service - NOT just the music.

None of the churches of which I have been a member over the years i have been a Christian has had a senior pastor (just a pastor and his fellow-elders, and deacons) or a worship director. I wonder what the biblical basis is for such offices in a church. I agree with you that the preaching of the word is the most important, and that our emphasis should be on the word of God.

I have been a member of some 20+ churches (due to my being in the military and constantly moving ) virtually all have only had one pastor - no elders. Most churches only had a Music director - not a so called "worship pastor"

Good point. Actually our whole lives, every day all day, ought to be done in worship towards God. There are two main verbs in the NT "to worship." One is proskuneo, to physically bow down. The other is latreuo, which is to worship n the sense of "serve" (sometimes translated as "serve"). We ought to bow down in prayer every day, and serve Him in praise and worship and witnessing and other ways every day all day.
