Who is on their school's band??

Wow. I wouldn't pay that much for an intermidiate violin! Her's probably wasn't intermediate though, was it? The fiddle I have now was given to me by a man in our church and it sounds beeUteafull!! Some guy in TX told me that it was made by Bruno about 1880 but some guy in AZ that my teacher took it to said that it was made around WW1 so who knows... that's a big difference. lol Anyway, it is falling apart now and I'm stuck b/c I don't know what to do. The guy my teacher took it to said it would
cost too much to fix it and that it wouldn't be worth it- because of the way it was built even if I did pay to get it fixed it would run into problems again down the road. He said the reason it is having so many problems is that it was made from an outside mold vs. an inside mold and there was no room left for the wood to expand. Soooo...

I've never played a violin that I liked as much as mine. My teacher lent me his violin for a few weeks and I liked the way it felt and the way it sounded up high like in the 6 position and higher but it didn't sound as sweet as mine. His is a 1920 Roth.

I respect your point of view but I disagree! Clarinets are way better. For my birthday I got a new wooden clarinet and it is gorgeous! It has a deep, rich, brown color instead of black. We are too good to use mutes! I was very disappointed when I found out that clarinets are not in DCI. I think that is discrimination! LOL! Spit!?! Ya’ll are the one's who spit one the floor and have spit valves! Don't talk to me about spit!!!!!!! Clarinets may not have the melody but we have some pretty cool music! I guess you win on everything else. And your post is a true testament to trumpets egos!!!

Hal Leonard just released their new marching music this past week, so no, we don't know what our show will be next year yet as we haven't had a chance to really look at it yet.

You young'uns talking about marching, concert, and contests is bringing back alot of memories!
I'm glad you are enjoying playing in your school bands!

(I'm gonna tell my age here)I started playing the clarinet in the sixth grade, and played until 12th grade, also played tenor sax for 2 years. when I graduated high school in . . . 1982  I put the clarinet in the closet and didn't pick it up again until the fall of 2002. Our church started an orchestra in 2001, so I decided to pick it up again.
Musicgirl, I ordered a Rosewood Clarinet Tuesday, should get here tomorrow!

Our band director ordered our music a couple days ago it should be in with in the next two weeks. We are doing Grease. We are all very excited. We have a lot of ideas and we can not wait to start working on them. We are playin " We Go Together", "Hand Jive" "Beauty School Drop Out" ,and "Grease Lightning." I hope we do well at contest this year!!!

I am talking about having to get your spit out of the mouthpiece that is just disgusting, and my "consensation" goes on to the floor where all of it belongs.

Well at least we don't put our spit on the floor!!! In the band hall if we are going to sit or lay on the floor we make sure it is in the back by the drums, in the front by the podium, or on either side of the room. We never sit in the middle b/c that is where all the high and low brass spit. LOL
