Everybody with any sense already knows this. The President and the Republican Party have passed laws that will ensure the death of Obamacare and make even rudimentary insurance unaffordable for persons who have to buy it on the open market. Moreover, the price of insurance that many of us who get it from our employers will go up because hospitals will still need to treat the desperately ill, and they will pay for it on the backs of patients who have insurance.

Come October when the new insurance rates for 2019 come out, even the rabid Trump backers will realize that they have gone from the frying pan into the fire.

Prior to my retirement my wife was on my insurance policy, provided by my employer. It cost me $58 per month to include her.

When I retired I opted to continue coverage under COBRA. The cost for her was $458 per month. When we moved to Texas that went up to $738 per month. High but we could still do it. When Obamacare went into effect her insurance went to $1178 per month but she could not keep her policy or her doctor. The only policy we could find was $1489 per month.

So, under Obamacare her insurance costs went from $458 per month to $1489 per month. Then she turned 65 and qualified for Medicare. It costs her $130 per month and she kept her doctor.
