    The recipients of the five statements of the GC

    Here is the breakdown, according to context, of the recipients of the five statements of the Great Commission:

    Matthew 28:16-20. The "eleven disciples" (v. 16), or IMO the leadership.

    Mark 16:14-18. "The eleven" (v. 14), or once again the leadership.

    Luke 24:44-49. "The eleven gathered together, and them that were with them" (v. 33). I interpret this as the corporate church.

    John 20:19-23. "The disciples" (v. 19). I interpret this as each individual believer.

    Acts 1:8. "The apostles" (v. 2). I interpret this as a specific commission to the missionary-apostles.:type:
