Many times. Not just in a pickup but also in the bed of other trucks. Road in the bed of my grandfathers truck as we moved from the farm to Warm Springs, VA. Was great fun.

In Illinois (at least as of a decade ago) it is legal for anyone over the age of 15 to ride in the back of a pickup as long as the driver is over 18. So I actually frequently had people in the back of my truck.
