Who took more vacation -- George W. Bush or Barack Obama?

Can't remember ... did anyone on the BB complain about G. Bush taking vacations? To August 8th, same number of days in office, Bush had taken 282 more days of vacation than Obama.

On Aug. 8, 2014, Knoller tweeted that Obama had taken 19 vacations totaling 125 days so far while in office. Those numbers have risen a bit due to the Martha’s Vineyard vacation, but that’s still many fewer than George W. Bush’s 65 combined trips to his Texas ranch and his parents’ home in Kennebunkport, Maine, which totaled 407 days at the same point in his presidency.

This comes under the heading of "so what?" If you recall, you Democrats complained constantly because Bush was in Texas in spite of the fact that everyone knew that he was working there.

In the case of 0bam@, everyone wants him playing golf, raising money in Hollywood, or on a luxury vacation somewhere.

As a neo-orthodox, Crab, you must believe in the Fatherhood of God, the Brotherhood of man, and the Neighborhood of Martha's Vineyard.

The question of how much vacation time a president takes is a non-issue. The president may not be keeping Oval Office hours, but he is never away from his vast communications network; he is never far from his advisers; he has the nuclear launch code satchel at his fingertips.

A presidential vacation is not like the vacations I take.

As with all things Obama, CTB, by now you know it has very little to do with what he does or doesn't do. When people's anger reaches a boiling point, they'll complain and feel justified in doing so if he gets up and pees more every night than George Bush did and somehow costs the taxpayer more Secret Service money.

The rants, like with Dan Page, are about them and not the object of their growing rages.

CTB - it's not the quantity of vacation time. It's the quality.

For example: http://mediamatters.org/mobile/rese...ticize-obamas-florida-trip-ignore-bush/198421

During the Georgia crisis, Bush went on vacation--and issued statements and kept the public aware that he was ensuring that he remained aware of the events.

Obama goes on vacation -- and there's no word from him.

Defend him all you want. I had problems with the Bush presidency (especially the Patriot Act), but at least Bush gave the appearance he was still doing the job we elected him to do.

Why is it the quality? This is nothing more than the same partisan politics that's always been around. It's just amped up because the side opposite the President continues to grow more enraged about everything he does.

And when you look at how the side opposite him continues to angrily complain more and more about everything he does, even if his predecessors did the same, why on earth would anyone believe that this is just an issue of the quality?

People need to be real and let go of this politics stuff because it is ruining some witnesses.

Good point, Don! Besides, it is the liberal mainstream media that is grumbling that 0bam@ is cold-hearted because he issued a statement about the beheaded journalist and then went immediately to the golf course and was photographed there. So this is nothing but a dispute among Democrats and the GOP is not in it except for laughing at the ineptness of 0bam@'s public relations.

You missed a fundamental point of the debate: they're not doing the same thing. Bush went on vacation, and still issued releases showing he was remaining on top of the situation. Obama has gone on vacation, and we don't know what he's doing.

Not only that, but he won't release his golf scores.

I'll get me coat....

Yes I agree Bush did take more vacation time but I also agree he did seem more connected to the job of the President than Obama has. One thing is Bush usually went on vacation to his own ranch and Obama always goes big, Hawaii and Martha's Vineyard. Obama thinks he deserves a King's privilege. I'll be glad when he is done fundamentally changing America.

The big lie from the Democrats here is that Bush, as Democrats well know, just moved his work to Crawford so that he could relax after work. Democrats are trying to cover for 0bam@'s gauche handling of the death of the journalist but really no one cares what happened except Chris Mathews and he could care less, also.
