Who was the best???

[Salty]

Which one do you think was the best???

[Mike B]

I'd go with Andy Devine and Pat Buttram...

[JonC]

Don't know any of them but now I see who Jimmy Buffet was mentioning in his song ("an autographed picture of Andy Devine").

[Van]

Yes, my favorite was Andy Devine too. The snippet that stuck in my memory was a bit where Andy had finished a meal, and was offered a slice of pie. He reluctantly said, maybe just a smidgen. Then he cut a slice and put it on a plate. Then, he put the remainder of the pie in front of him and started eating.

I always wondered who that was in the song, but didn't wonder hard enough to look it up.

I think Dennis Weaver should have at least made the cut.

Gabby Hayes or Andy Devine for me. Pat Buttram is close as well.
