The question is, "What is the gospel's intended purpose?"

Its Twofold. It is for one a savour of life unt life [ The saved or regenerated] and to the other of death unto death[ the spiritually dead]

2 Cor 2:

15For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:

16To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?

God's Purpose is sometimes to confirm a people in spiritual death, to harden them with the Gospel, not to believe it, but to reject it..

Isn't a man resisting God if that man commits sin. If God says don't do it and you do it anyway that is called resisting
