For just one example, an analysis of the 2008 economic meltdown in The Lancet estimated that it “was associated with over 260,000 excess cancer deaths in the OECD alone, between 2008–2010.” That is a massive “detail” to ignore in forming policy.

In other words, the tradeoff is not just a matter of lives lost versus money, as it is often portrayed as being (e.g., New York governor Cuomo’s assertion that “we’re not going to put a dollar figure on human life”). It is a tradeoff between lives lost due to COVID and lives that will be lost due to the policies adopted to reduce COVID deaths."

Trump has listened to the experts and social distancing has been used because the USA did not have enough N95 masks to give to each man, woman, and child. We were also helped by the French, specifically French researcher Didier Raoult.

However, we must go back to work or the economic depression will cause more deaths than the flu in the long run. The Chinese Communist Party manufactured this unnatural virus and are therefore responsible for releasing it on the whole world. Nixon was wrong about China.

You would actually need to give every person about 15 n-95 masks per month. Most people cant wear a n-95 anywhere close to continuously. I wore n-95 for many years and now I use p-100. The masks are good for wearing in the dirty air but taking frequent breaks to clean air and removing mask. 99% of Americans could not wear a n-95 for 7 hrs of an 8 hr shift. When I weld for 30 minutes straight, the p-100 is literally dripping water out the exhaust diaphragms. A P-100 is like a Cadillac and the n-95 a pinto.

Here in Minnesota there is growing backlash to the extension of the stay at home order the governor extended to May 4th. It's quite obvious the models that most states are working with were wildly inaccurate. For example, the plan for Minnesota was to have 5,000 ICU beds available for when the coronavirus peaked. However, NY state has seen the peak (or is at the peak) and they aren't using 5,000 ICU beds. Yet the governor won't make the models public, not even to the legislature. This borders on a dictatorship.

It doesn't help when our governor claims that 80% of workers in the state are still able to work. That's just flat out wrong.

In Taiwan, everyone had at least N95 masks and they only had about 1 death per million. It substitutes for social distancing and it allowed them to keep everything in their economy and social lives up and running--no shutdown. They had their schools and restaurants open, etc. But then they are well aware of the depravity of the Chinese Communist Party and they prepared for it. We were not prepared. I believe those who say that this is a manufactured unnatural virus released accidently or on purpose from the Wuhan Lab in their studies on biological warfare.

My business uses a company that packages products into retail packaging. A good portion of their workforce are naturalized SE Asian people--many are from Cambodia and Vietnam. Many of these people wear masks all the time and have been doing so for years, not just in the last couple of months. It's just a part of their lifestyle. I sometimes jokingly wonder if they take them off at home.

Saving lives is necessary, therefore everyone being as responsible as they can by working together to avoid being infecting and infecting others thus slowing the spread is the duty of every American and masks help play an important role in this. I don’t know why I have to explain this…

I imagine Trump is going to start a task force for this. No doubt, there will be some trial and error and many step to consider to do it safely. Of course, Trump will be criticized by Leftist media for every step he takes and blamed for every death along the way by them...

Considering most dont do very much anyway, it may be accurate.

It depends where you live. My county has only 12 cases and no deaths. I have not read where anyone is even in the local hospital for it. That's one case for every 88 square miles in the county. You literally would have to go searching on purpose for someone with the virus to catch it in this county. I haven't heard of any community spread. I know the early cases were folks who had traveled out of state and caught it there. I think the first one was someone who traveled to Europe, I think it was Austria, to an area with an outbreak of it and caught it there.

I decided way back around the first of March that I wasn't going to travel anywhere, in state or out, until after this virus was receding.
