Why Christians Refuse to Worship Earth

I didn't know this. I think it speaks for itself:

"However, since 2009 there has been an international movement to establish 'Mother Earth' status as equal to humans. On May 27, 2009, the United Nations released the document 'The Earth Does Not Belong to Human Beings; Human Beings Belong to the Earth …'

The U.N. wants to provide the planet with an ombudsman whose job it is to hear nature’s complaints as voiced by activists and other groups including the state, essentially elevating the earth equal to man and given the same rights."

Of course, we know that the Earth does not belong to human beings, nor do human beings belong to the Earth.

Psalm 24:1
The earth is the Lord’s, and all it contains,
The world, and those who dwell in it.

We are stewards of what God has made (see Genesis 1) and we will be held accountable if we abuse it, pollute it, or make it uninhabitable.

Therefore we must be environmentally-conscious and make good use of the resources we have been provided, as well as conserve and manage the lands, the sea, and the air.

I will agree with you on the stewardship aspect but the OT makes it clear humans are in charge of the earth. It says if too many times to disputed. Like the green herb, he GAVE us all things. Subdue, I believe the term is for our command concerning the earth.

I agree with you, and I like the psalm you selected.

We can do that without caving into the go Green/save Mother earth/redistribute the wealth crowd though!

if and when the liberals return to power our "Carbon Footprint" tax will be the next major tax to appear on our forms April 15th (after they repeal the Trump tax bill).

I calculated mine one year and it was an additional 1500 dollars/annum.

Liberals never met a tax increase that they did not love!

Stewardship is taking "charge" of the earth. However, it is not ours to do with as we please.

The 'green herb' can make a person stupid if it is not used for medical reasons. I've seen it in the lives of many of my friends on a long-term basis.

Subdue, I believe the term is for our command concerning the earth.
"Subdue" in terms of taming the earth to make it productive and fruitful, but not "subdue" in the sense of destroying it.

We do not need though to go to the extreme of having our technology changed so that we become weaker and poorer, while third world nations are supposedly helped out by that!

I didn't love the Tax bill recently passed by the Republicans. It represents a tax increase over time for the middle and even lower upper class and did nothing to help the needy. It did give a huge tax break to corporations and the very wealthy.

Who then have funds available to hire people as shown by the drop in unemployment.

I hope we can find a way to own an appropriate, rational, grassroots environmentalism; without hopping on greenwashed bandwagons that make us into U.N. dupes.

So you're against reducing air and water pollution because of the fact that the Republicans aren't leading it. Correct? In other words you're against it. OK. I'll continue to support improving the environment for the sake of our children and grandchildren.

The Republicans elevated corporations to the same level as people in the Citizens United Supreme Court case to allow unlimited, unreported campaign contributions by them. The GOP worships the almighty dollar. Maybe we should call them the Greenback Party.

US Unemployment rate 2008-2018.jpg

After Obama saved us from a depression and put in place measures to deal with Bush's Great Recession, the Unemployment Rate has gone down steadily every year since. I see no obvious effect of the Tax bill yet but it's early. I predict a rise in unemployment due to that bill but we'll see.

You must have missed all of the companies now reinvesting back in the Us due that, such as Apple 350 Billion dollars, the many who received their 1000 bonus money, and those who had the wages raised to 15.00 min now!

No, as republicans also want to have fresh air and clean water, but not at the high costs of having to raise big taxes on all of us due to energy usuage taxes, and to have us lose our economic gains by being forced to have our energy costs go sky high, due to all out "green"
