I have not, and probably never will, spend time trying to work my way through the musings of men, lol. And again, not sure if I am smart enough to understand it is I did.
For me, I am satisfied with what Genesis states, and try not to overcomplicate it because I think I need a response to the unbelieving. And I refer to those who either reject Genesis outright or have bought into Theistic Evolution, or deny the possibility of a literal Six Day Creation.
You are not alone in that, Tom, many have given the Account an analogous meaning. But I take it as literal, and take the Six Days as they are provided in Genesis. We see that reiterated here:
Exodus 20:10-11
King James Version (KJV)
10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
The basic point being that when this was/is spoken to the people the context is pretty clear. "You are to keep the (literal) seventh day holy because in six (literal) days God made the heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is."
And I would have to know what context you refer to yowm in before I could comment, disagree, or agree.
God bless.
