Nineveh was saved by grace. God is gracious(Jonah 4:2)----that trait of character that is derived from the word grace. Jonah knew that it was grace that spared Nineveh, and he was not happy about it (Jonah 4:1).

Paul tells Christians, and rightly so, that they are saved by grace (Eph 2:8-9).

But there arises, some how, in many peoples' minds that in the Old Testament people were saved by the works of the Law, and then Jesus came along and changed all of that.

The ancient city of Nineveh was also saved by grace.

No one denies that Nineveh(or any other peoples, for that matter) was saved by grace, but we wonder what reason God had for singling out Nineveh from any other large cities of the day, such as Damascus, Rabbah, or Susa.

How about this? God's sovereign grace and mercy to be showed to whomever God desires, including Ninevites. Even including me! ;) Nineveh certainly didn't deserve it, nor were they "seekers."
